A few weeks ago, we learned that Legends of Tomorrow might introduce a major DC hero (sadly not Batman Beyond) in its finale to set up Season 2, and now, said mystery man at least has one name. Suits and Orphan Black star Patrick J. Adams will give Legends of Tomorrow a boost into Season 2, but as whom?

Although most of their creations remain unexploited on the big screen, DC has just as deep a roster of cool characters as Marvel. Maybe deeper; the bizarre nooks and crannies of the DC Comics universe feature tons of fascinating heroes and villains. Like, for example crime-fighting buddies Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.

Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving communities of costuming that exist, such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. Over the years, the cosplay community has evolved into a creative outlet for many fans to establish and showcase some impressive feats of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics at conventions. The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow mega-spinoff has come into a bit sharper focus with news that Arrow and The Flash will be laying ground for its premiere, but how deep into DC lore can the series get? Can we expect time-traveling fan-favorite Booster Gold? And who in the world is Franz Drameh’s Jay Jackson?

Created by Dan Jurgens in his self-titled series in 1986, Booster Gold is one of the most quintessentially 80s superheroes, dressed in garish gold, and obsessed with his own image and celebrity. He came from the future, but he belongs to the MTV generation. And as a time-traveler himself, he has a typically convoluted backstory involving a dead sister, alternate versions of himself, and the usual confusion of crises. That backstory is only going to get more complicated when Booster Gold is thrown into the mix of DC's Convergence event. Thankfully DC has decided to help readers out with a two-page guide to Booster's backstory, which they've asked us to share exclusively with you.

Costume design is one of the great strengths of the superhero genre, a way to establish distinctive visual shorthand for a character and reveal key details about concept, purpose, and personality. But which is the best superhero costume of all time? This month, we're asking you to decide, by voting up your favorites and voting down the rest. When we have your votes, we'll compile a list of the greatest super-costumes of all time. This week we're looking at some quintessential costume designs decade-by-decade. Today it's five costumes from the 1980s, the decade that style forgot. But it wasn't all disco collars all the time; the era produced some great costumes as well. A new year means new action figures, busts and statues from DC Collectibles, although official solicitation listings indicate the company will kick off 2013 with a relatively conservative amount of merchandise. In January DCC will roll out a new Death statue, a Frank Miller-style Superman statue, a Booster Gold bust and a New 52 Green Arrow action figure, with prices ranging from about $23 to $80,
