Cast Party: Who Should Star In An '80s 'Wonder Woman' Movie?
March is Women’s History Month, and we’re looking at the history of Wonder Woman. As we all know, her first theatrical film is due out later this year. But what if it wasn’t her first? What if there had been as many onscreen Wonder Women as Batmen? So far we’ve imagined a Golden Age Wonder Woman movie, a Silver Age Wonder Girl movie, and a Bronze Age Diana Prince movie. For our final installment of the series, we're visiting the late 1980s, for post-Crisis Wonder Woman movie featuring the stars of that era.

What if there had been as many onscreen Wonder Women as Batmen? So far we've done a Golden Age Wonder Woman movie and a Silver Age Wonder Girl movie; this week we march on into the early 1970s, for another movie featuring stars of the era.

What if there had been as many onscreen Wonder Women as Batmen? Last week's Cast Party offered suggestions for a Golden Age Wonder Woman movie; this week we move into comics' Silver Age, with another movie cast with stars from the period.

I'm doing something a little different with Cast Party for the month of March. It's Women's History Month, and I've decided to take a look at the history of Wonder Woman. As we all know, the first theatrical film is due out later this year. But what if it wasn't her first? What if there had been as many onscreen Wonder Women as Batmen? That's the question I'm exploring, as I imagine movies based on the major eras of Wonder Woman comics, cast with stars from those time periods.

This week we're casting an imagined movie version of Animosity, a really fun apocalyptic comic written by Marguerite Bennett with art by Rafael de Latorre. It takes place in a world where, one year ago, every animal on Earth gained human-level intelligence and the ability to speak. Obviously this has sent society into complete disarray. The book follows a young girl named Jesse and her dog Sandor. Sandor's a bloodhound who now speaks with a Southern accent, but remains loyal to Jesse. He's attempting to protect her after the death of her parents, as they travel across a chaotic North America in search of her older brother.

This week, since we're focusing on Love and Sex across the site, I thought it would be fun to cast Adam Warren's Empowered, a highly sexualized manga-influenced superhero comedy. The book's title character is a young superhero who gets her powers from an unbelievably skintight costume that has a tendency to get ripped up in battle, which often leads to her getting tied up, since she's powerless until the suit regenerates. Alongside her boyfriend, a former henchman known as Thug Boy, and her best friend Ninjette, she looks for her place in an absurd superhero world.

Cast Party: Who Should Star in a 'Southern Bastards' TV Series?
This week, we're casting an imaginary TV series based on the Image Comics series Southern Bastards by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour. Southern Bastards would make a fantastic prestige drama for HBO, Netflix, or wherever. It has discrete storylines, but the underlying mysteries are unspooled at a very gradual pace. Film it down in Alabama, and fill the cast with as many craggy old character actors as you can find.

This week, I'm looking at one of my favorite DC comics of the moment: Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye from the Young Animal line. Co-created by Gerard Way, Jon Rivera, and Michael Avon Oeming, it breathes new life into Cave Carson, a Silver Age spelunker who was so forgotten that he was even on a team called the Forgotten Heroes, which you probably also don't remember.

Rogue One has proven the viability of Star Wars spin-off movies outside the main Skywalker saga, and meanwhile the Star Wars comics are going gangbusters at Marvel, so it seems like only a matter of time until there's a Star Wars movie based on a comic. So far, the most popular character created for the current Star Wars comics is Doctor Aphra, who was introduced in Darth Vader and currently stars in her own series written by Kieron Gillen, with art by Salvador Larroca and Kev Walker.

This week we’re creating our dream cast for Gotham City Sirens, the planned Harley Quinn-centered spinoff of Suicide Squad from director David Ayer and artist Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Poison Ivy and Catwoman have been discussed as the other central characters, but we've filled out our cast with some of Gotham's female heroes.
