Apart from Jessica Jones, Daredevil will prove the Defender we’ve lost touch with the most, by the time Marvel’s four-way Netflix teamup debuts this summer. Season 2 left us on a semi-hopeful note of Matt making a surprise admission to Karen, but according to Charlie Cox, Matt will have taken things much further by the time The Defenders opens.
Our first looks at The Defenders haven’t shown us much in the way of actual team-ups from the different series, especially as some are unlikely to play well together. That said, Jessica Jones and Daredevil seem to be getting along swimmingly in new photos from the New York set, at least in-between takes.
As Marvel nears its full-blown Defenders teamup, we’ve started to see more and more crossover of supporting characters in the individual series. No one personifies that better than Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, but according to a recent quote from Daredevil star Charlie Cox, we may already have seen the events of Season 2 crossing over with Luke Cage, and not even realized.
There’s a long road between here and Marvel’s Netflix Defenders, let alone a third season of Daredevil, but one has to wonder how the Man Without Fear fares under a team dynamic. Even better, Charlie Cox teases that Matt Murdock will come out of The Defenders a changed man, picking up a few team lessons as he heads into Season 3.
Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil first bucked our conceptions of the four Defenders series with a second season, so it’s only fitting ol’ Hornhead continue the trend at Comic-Con 2016. Even as Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders gear up for 2017, Marvel and Netflix confirm Daredevil Season 3 will arrive sometime thereafter.
Neither Marvel nor Netflix have made particularly clear how the future Defenders series will be scheduled, following Luke Cage’s September premiere, current Iron Fist production, or the others awaiting new seasons, but has Daredevil come to the rescue? Charlie Cox says The Defenders will shoot later this year, potentially setting us up for a 2017 premiere.
Daredevil Season 2 has proven to be a very different animal than its predecessor, but that hasn’t stopped the Netflix Man Without Fear from one-upping his past. Watch the full five-minute hallway fight that Charlie Cox compared to the first season sequence “on crack”!
Daredevil Season 2 has only been available to stream for a few short days, with no guaranteed of a third season before Matt Murdock joins The Defenders, but already Charlie Cox knows who should take aim at the Man Without Fear in Season 3, including a familiar face, and a long-awaited debut.
Daredevil’s famous red suit didn’t get much spotlight within the Marvel Netflix drama’s first season, something seemingly rectified by the front-and-center placement for Season 2. Not everyone has enjoyed the Man Without Fear’s full costumed look, however, to which Charlie Cox admits a few tweaks were made for Season 2, apart from what we’ve seen.
