On The Cheap: Latest Humble Bundle Offers Great Image Deals
I've been keeping my eye on the Humble Bundle for a long time now to find good deals on cheap comics, and one of the things that still surprises me every time there's a new one is that there's always something brand new in there. Take, for instance, the current bundle, which focuses on creator-owned comics from Image. Not only does it have Image mainstays like Invincible, Phonogram, and Saga, but it also includes the first volume of Chip Zdarsky and Kagan McLeod's Kaptara, collecting the first five issues of the series. Folks. Kaptara vol. 1 came out less than a month ago. #6 isn't even out yet. So on the off chance that you need an economic justification to get a whole bunch of comic books and support the Human Rights Campaign, just imagine that you're paying full price for Kaptara, Bitch Planet, and Just The Tips, and getting 47 issues of Invincible for free.

Out of School But Still in Trouble: 'Jughead' #3 [Preview]
Uh-oh. Jughead has been expelled from school, and grounded from video games to boot, in the pages of Jughead #3 by Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson. Archie Comics has released a six-page preview of the book, on sale Wednesday December 30. The preview puts the focus on Jughead's father, Forsythe Pendleton Jones Jr, aka Jonesy. Mr. Jones attempts to fix Jughead's problems with the principal, and has a friendly encounter with Betty Cooper, in which he consistently fails to remember her name. This is the most we've seen of Jughead's dad since the reboot, and possibly the most personality he's ever displayed!

2015 was an outstanding year for Chip Zdarsky. Sex Criminals, Kaptara, Howard the Duck, Jughead; these are all pretty good comics with Chip Zdarsky's name on them. Chip Zdarsky also won an award for being funny, and then gave it back, presumably in recognition of the fact that Chip Zdarsky could be funnier. But Chip Zdarsky didn't do it all alone. It takes a lot of people to make Chip Zdarsky look good. So we pored through all those Chip Zdarsky comics that Chip Zdarsky did this year to identify all the great people Chip Zdarsky worked with and hold a special award in recognition of their hard work and sacrifices.

Chip Zdarsky Talks 'Kaptara,' Action Figures And Soap Operas
Over the course of its first five issues, Chip Zdarsky and Kagan McLeod's Kaptara introduced readers to an alien world where science, sorcery and barbarians collide for one of the year's weirdest adventures. What you might not realize, though, is how much the journey across the strange planet owes to General Hospital. Fortunately, Zdarsky is here to explain. With the book on the verge of closing out its first arc with this week's fifth issue, I spoke to Zdarsky about the origins of the project, how he and McLeod fleshed out the increasingly bizarre world in the story, the complicated storylines he'd play out with his action figures that formed the basis of the project and, of course, the time he went to a mall to see his favorite soap opera star and was laughed at by "a room full of housewives."

Chip Zdarsky Declines Harvey Award For Humor
Other than that one time that NASCAR Heroes was nominated a few years ago, the Harvey Awards are not usually rocked with controversy. This year, however, has been marked by one notable exception: Chip Zdarsky's refusal to accept the Special Award For Humor In Comics for his work on Sex Criminals. In a post at his website, Zdarsky discussed his reasons for declining the award, specifically citing the inherent unfairness of not including writer Matt Fraction, who, in Zdarsky's words, "supplies 90% of the humor."

Espionage Launches 'Bitch Planet' and 'Sex Criminals' Nail Art
Pre-orders started yesterday for an awesome new line of Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps inspired by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine De Landro's Bitch Planet and Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky's Sex Criminals. Nail wraps, for those who aren't familiar with them, are adhesive nail art that can be applied at home easily. Each style was approved by the creative teams on the books and is tastefully but clearly inspired by the excellent comics they're based on. Plus, not only do they have really cool designs, they're also glow-in-the-dark.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' Hero Furiosa Inspires Artists
Within hours of Mad Max: Fury Road hitting theaters, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram exploded with fan art featuring the neon wasteland desert and its high octane inhabitants. One character, though, inspired artists like no other --- Imperator Furiosa, the steely warrior of Immortan Joe's army. ComicsAlliance has compiled a collection of our favorites, including a brand-new piece by the talented Greg Ruth, and an exquisite black and white sketch by Jamie McKelvie.
