I'll admit, I actually forgot the Marvel Collector Corps was doing a box on Captain America: Civil War once the Women of Power box for June was announced. I just looked right past this month and was eagerly anticipating June's box and the promise of Spider-Gwen, She-Hulk and Squirrel Girl having some kind of representation inside. So imagine my surprise when this little box of Captain America goodness was dropped on my doorstep.

Funko's domination of all things collectible has seen it expand beyond the ubiquitous Funko Pop vinyls into keychains, plush dolls and even subscription services. One of the most delightful lines that Funko produces are the Mystery Minis, blind box collectible featuring characters from the likes of The Walking Dead, Zootopia and The Avengers. Joining the ranks of the Mystery Minis is Cartoon Network's ever popular Steven Universe and its roster of characters. The line is due out in July and features not only the main characters from the cartoons, but fan-favorites such as Greg Universe, Lapus Lazuli and Steven's pet lion, Lion.

Captain Marvel, Spider-Gwen Lead the Charge for New Marvel Funko Pops
The greatest challenge the world faces today is the overpopulation of Funko Pops. Soon we will all be outnumbered by the little plastic caricatures, and there will be no one left to stop the invading masses of collectible characters. But that's a problem for tomorrow's children's children to solve. I'll be dead by then, and right now there's a lot of Funko figures to collect. Funko officially revealed the release window for the next wave of Marvel Pops, a few of which were teased during Toy Fair last month. Finally, Captain Marvel will be able to rally the baby bobblehead version of the Carol Corps. The unmasked version being the default means there's plenty of room for a helmeted variant down the line, too. She'll be joined by Marvel's newest leading lady du jour, Spider-Gwen. The world needs more Captain Marvel and Spider-Gwen figures. It's a plain and simple fact, and one only a handful of companies seem to recognize.

Deadpool is kind of a big deal; I don't know if you've heard. He's got 127 monthly comics, a smash-hit movie, his face is all over clothes, he's got dozens of action figures, and hell, there's even a petition to have this fictional character (that isn't at all a real person) host an actual, live television variety show. That's just the power of the 'pool, baby. You can't stop this crazy train because it's already off the rails. Funko selecting Wade Wilson to be the focal point of its latest Marvel Collector Corp box just in time to release alongside the mercenary's big screen splash was thus, a foregone conclusion. Following up the Guardians of the Galaxy box with a character as massively popular as Deadpool could also serve to get Funko back in the good graces of its subscribers. Provided its contents were strong that is.

Don't Be Sad, Black Widow, Your Civil War Mopeez Plush is Coming Soon
Most of Funko's collectibles are all about being cute. Mopeez however rely on a bit of schadenfreude. They're sad little versions of your favorite characters, but you're supposed to get enjoyment from how adorably disappointed they are over whatever it is little stuffed characters get upset about. We've seen some Marvel and DC Mopeez before, but this next batch will actually add two of the most sought after characters to the fold with the additions of Black Widow and Black Panther. Now the upcoming Captain America: Civil War series does include Vision and Crossbones, for reasons that will likely never make sense to me. Vision I sort of get. He's an okay guy, even if they did make him a little too OP in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Crossbones' movie costume does have a certain appeal, it's still a weird character to make a plush toy for given his roots. Also, there's no better character in this movie to fill out the box? Does anyone care about Bucky Barnes as much as Steve Rogers?

Funko Announces Legion of Collectors Subscription for DC Comics
If you were wondering why there wasn't an armored Batman in Funko's recent deluge of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice collectibles, today we got the answer. Though it's been in the works for some time, Funko has only just now unveiled its DC Comics subscription service, Legion of Collectors. The very first exclusive figure included will be the armored Batman from the upcoming Warner Bros. feature film, which makes perfect sense given that the bi-monthly box will launch in March alongside that movie he stole from Superman. The Legion of Collectors borrows a bit of its name from DC's spacefaring superteam of the future, but considering the Legion's presence in the current DC catalog, it's unlikely we'll see a Matter-Eater Lad or Saturn Girl Pop figure any time soon. This is the third subscription service from Funko launched in the last year or so, with Marvel and Star Wars leading the charge into Funko's direct-to-consumer sales. Like those other two subscriptions, everything included will be 100% exclusive. It also gives people who've subscribed to all three a new box of Funko goods every month of the year.

Last summer, Funko released the first of its Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice collectibles in an exclusive set at San Diego Comic-Con. For those of you who couldn't attend, and didn't want to pay exorbitant prices on the secondary market, we have good news--there are a bunch of new Funko Pops, Minis, Idolz, and bobbleheads coming. It's not really all that surprising. There was no way there was only going to be two Funko Pops for DC's biggest film of the year. At least now we know what to expect in the coming months... at least so far as the heroes are concerned. At this point in the Funko game, you'd actually have a harder time thinking of something the company hasn't created at least one Pop for than things it has. Batman V Superman is getting the full-court press from Funko, too, with every aspect of the company's various lines getting in on the action. You want a tiny, baby Batman driving a Batmobile? You got it. Want to chew on Aquaman while thinking about what to write in your journal? Yeah, they got you covered there, too.

Funko Assembles Its 'Captain America: Civil War' Collectibles
We're 121 days away from Captain America: Civil War hitting theaters, and that seems like the perfect time for Funko to reveal its first line of figures from the upcoming film. Already we've seen Hot Toys and Lego hint at respective plans for toys based on the third Captain America film, and with Funko now diving in, that leaves just a few stragglers (including Hasbro) to show us what to expect on the toy front from the Marvel film that will divide it's two biggest stars. Typically, Funko just reveals its own proprietary mass market figures in the Pop line, but this time the vinyl-maker has also given a glimpse into the variants we'll be able to find, and which retailers will be home to those alternate looks. Curiously enough, the biggest characters in the film wound up with the fewest versions. At least all three of the major female leads are all present and accounted for this time.

The world of Funko just got a little bit more animated thanks to the new additions coming to the anime portion of the Pop line. No longer will you have to worry about trying to hunt down import figures for the likes of Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail, Soul Eater or Naruto, as you'll be able to pick up vinyl figures based on those starting right now. Yeah, you heard me (read me?). Not only did Funko announce these new figures, but they're actually available today. Perfect time for stocking stuffers. Interestingly enough, this is the first time many of these properties are making the leap to the Pop format. Given how long Pops have been around and how absolutely bonkers fans of these anime shows are, it's hard to believe Funko is only just getting around the releasing these. It bodes well for the future of anime at Funko, too.

After the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy film, Marvel's gone all in on its spacefaring adventurers. Where once the group was lucky to have one book being published, you can now find various titles starring the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy in print, including multiple team books and solo books. It's quite a time to be a fan of Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Gamorra and Drax. Even with that in mind, it was a bit of a surprise to learn that the final box of 2015 for the Marvel Collector Corps would focus on the intergalactic squad of misfits. Funko's usually found a way to tie its boxes to major comic events or film releases, but both the previous box (Villains) and this latest one have spun out from their own little worlds, independent of Marvels grand publishing and cinematic plans.
