For the past month, director James Mangold and the official wponx Instagram account have been keeping us intrigued with a series of beautiful black and white photos from Logan — the upcoming Wolverine sequel that marks Hugh Jackman’s final outing as the iconic hero. The latest image shakes things up a bit, offering a full-color sneak peek at Old Man Logan and his new friend, a young mutant named Laura, or, as she’s known to comic-book fans, X-23.

Have we mentioned that the official Logan Instagram is gorgeous? Have we said that enough? Because it is, and two new photos show off a couple more small details of the film. We’ve seen the trailer, and while it’s in color and not black and white like the Instagram account, I certainly hope that the movie keeps some of the atmospheric-ness of its photos to give us a more contemplative superhero movie that the Instagrams hint is possible.

Possibly my favorite part about the current production publicity of Logan is the set’s Instagram account, economically named @wponx. It’s been active for this latest round of shooting, about a month, and has delivered us a bunch of cast and set details while also doubling as a simply stunning black and white photography account. The latest photo, posted yesterday, shows the Wolverine in standard Wolverine fighting pose, standing over what appears to be a body in someone’s backyard.

March 2017 isn’t that far away — in just four months, we’ll be heading to the theater to check out Logan, featuring Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine. That’s kind of a big deal, considering the actor has portrayed the iconic X-Men hero on screen eight times, with the upcoming Wolverine sequel serving as his ninth film in the franchise. As such, we’ve really been enjoying director James Mangold’s frequent photo updates, which are likely to become more frequent in the months ahead.

It’s been a few days or so since we’ve gotten a fresh sneak peek at Logan, so we’re about due for a new photo, don’t you think? Right on cue, director James Mangold has shared another image from the upcoming Wolverine sequel, this time featuring Hugh Jackman’s titular hero, his crazy ripped abs and a very unpleasant exchange with a mirror. It seems like “Old Man” is definitely the best way to describe this iteration of Logan.

With its trailer debut this morning, Logan solidified itself as something separate from the wider X-Men cinematic universe. With Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart the only two connections to the other X-Men movies, we’re left a little puzzled as to how Logan fits into the wider timeline of events. Luckily, director James Mangold is here to explain away our confusion, and why he picked that particular Johnny Cash song.

New teaser images from Logan have been released daily for the past couple of weeks, and while we’ve gotten sneak peeks at the film’s setting and first looks at new characters, there’s one that’s been glaringly absent: The titular hero himself. That changed today, as director James Mangold shared our first look at Hugh Jackman’s return for the upcoming Wolverine sequel — which, as you know, will be his final outing in the X-Men franchise.
