Spider-Women, the multi-part crossover between Spider-Woman, Silk and Spider-Gwen has been something to look forward to almost every new comic book day for the past month or so, as Silk and Spider-Woman find themselves stranded on Spider-Gwen's Earth. With the conclusion mere weeks away, Marvel has provided us with an unlettered preview of Spider-Women Omega #1 by Dennis Hopeless, Robbie Thompson, Jason Latour and Nico Leon to prepare you for the finale.

From Parts Unknown is a comics anthology about pro wrestling, which is being funded by a newly-launched Kickstarter campaign. The project is the brainchild of writer G. Brett Williams and former Marvel editor Lauren Sankovitch, and features work by professional wrestler Christopher Daniels, filmmakers Jen and Sylvia Soska, and comics creators including Joe Keatinge, Ed Luce, and Jason Latour. The cover features a painting by WWE's favorite artist Rob Schamberger.

Since her creation in 2014, Spider-Gwen has been one of Marvel’s hottest properties, quickly spinning off into her own solo series with a string of new merchandise following closely behind. Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez and Rico Renzi took a one-off idea and turned it into a brand new franchise for Marvel, and a lot of the success comes down to Spider-Gwen’s awesome costume, designed by Rodriguez. However, this past weekend at C2E2, Rodriguez announced that he plans to step away from comics.

The three Spider-Women who all somehow have solo titles right now are having their inevitable crossover, and it all starts in Spider-Women Alpha #1. This book leads into an eight-part crossover between Spider-Woman, Spider-Gwen, and Silk. The crossover is written by Jason Latour, Dennis Hopeless and Robbie Thompson, with art by Vanesa Del Rey, Bengal, Javier Rodriguez, and Tana Ford. Thompson and Del Rey are handling this first chapter.

The Walking Dead has proven to be possibly the biggest crossover hit from indie comics to the mainstream, and is one of those special television shows that feels like an event that you have to talk to someone about as soon as it’s over. Now in its sixth season, with the comic just passing the 150 issue mark, The Walking Dead as a franchise is a runaway success that shows no signs of stopping, even producing its own TV spin-off in Fear the Walking Dead. Last weekend at Baltimore Comic-Con, the 27th annual Harvey Awards were held, and in one of the least surprising developments in the history of the Harveys, Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples' Saga took home a few more awards to add to a shelf that I'm sure is already collapsing under the weight of its many honors. Named for MAD Magazine editor and cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman (who, interestingly enough, did not win the award he was nominated for this year), the Harveys are voted on by industry professionals, and this year's winners represent a pretty interesting crop of current comics, including CA favorites like Lumberjanes, Hellboy In Hell, and even Dick Tracy. Apple has rejected issue #10 of Jason Aaron and Jason Latour's Image Comics series Southern Bastards from its store, and odds are it isn't because of Latour's widely shared essay about the Confederate flag in its back matter. The likely reason is an explicit sex scene that opens the issue. In virtually every previous case of Apple rejecting specific issues of comics, it's been over sexual content, not language or violence. (The one possible exception is the Johnny Ryan library of comics. It's hard to know where the offense was there.)

Marvel's steady stream of announcements ahead of next week's Previews reveal continued today, first with the surprising reveal of the new team on Captain Marvel, and then with news of Spider-Gwen's return. The latter announcement is less groundbreaking, but still very welcome, and it comes with a twist. The original Spider-Gwen creative team of writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez will continue to be the Spider-Gwen creative team after Secret Wars --- and Gwen's adventures will continue to take place in a separate reality from the main Marvel Universe.

Created in 1964 by Bill Everett and Stan Lee --- with substantial input from Jack Kirby and Wally Wood --- Daredevil has been brought to life on the page by an extraordinary roster of comics greats, including Gene Colan, David Mazzucchelli, Frank Miller, Alex Maleev, and, in recent years, Chris Samnee, Paolo Rivera, and Marcos Martin. The striking red suit that he's worn since his seventh appearance is one of the best costumes in comics, and creates an irresistible contrast against the grime of Hell's Kitchen.
