March's 'Women of Marvel' covers in celebration of Women's History Month are a great showcase of some of the most talented artists in the business --- and hopefully a promise that these women will be overwhelmed with Marvel work in the months that follow! Thus far we've seen covers from Amanda Conner, Gurihiru, Stephanie Hans, Katie Cook, Ming Doyle, Stacey Lee, Erica Henderson, Colleen Doran, and many more. Now we can add three more names to the roster, with covers by Vanesa R. Del Rey, Sara Richard, and Marguerite Sauvage. Del Rey provides the scary/sexy cover for Black Widow #16, Sauvage offers a blast of pop art perfection for All-New Captain America #5, and Richard conjures a blast of another kind for Deadpool #43, guest starring a Deadpoolian take on one of Squirrel Girl's unbeatable buddies.

We're hoping for great things for Marguerite Sauvage in 2015. Though she's a much sought-after and award-winning commercial illustrator, her love of comics shone through in her fashion-forward Wonder Woman short for Sensation Comics, and her style -- which she described in our profile of her last month as "feminine, modern, a little sexy, soft, light and joyful" -- is a welcome breath of fresh air. One of Sauvage's great strengths is her grasp of character, and that's in evidence in her portrayal of the Warriors Three on this variant cover for next year's Thor Annual #1, unveiled exclusively here on ComicsAlliance. Volstagg and Hogun look alarmed by the appearance of this new Goddess of Thunder, but it's Fandral's no doubt reflexive attempt at a smolder that really wins the day -- and makes us excited to see how that meeting is going to play out.

In the overwhelmingly male comic book industry, it has been a challenge for some editors and readers to see the ever growing number of talented women currently trying to make a name for themselves. With that in mind, ComicsAlliance offers Hire This Woman, a recurring feature designed for comics readers as well as editors and other professionals, where we shine the spotlight on a female comics pro on the ascendance. Some of these women will be at the very beginning of their careers, while others will be more experienced but not yet “household names.” Longtime ComicsAlliance fave Marguerite Sauvage had already established herself as a fashion and commercial illustrator with work for companies as varied as Marie Claire, Playstation, and Louis Vuitton, not to mention animation art and writing and drawing comics for the French market. It was only recently that Sauvage made waves in the US with her celebrated work in Sensation Comics, where she reimagined Wonder Woman as a contemporary feminist rock star. Just this week, Sauvage was announced as the artist of a new Thor story to be written by Lumberjanes co-creator Noelle Stevenson.

For the most part, mainstream comics don’t care about fashion. But sometimes, something sneaks through and reminds us all of why this matters. Sensation Comics #7, illustrated by Marguerite Sauvage from a script by Sean E. Williams, is that rare, trembling shaft of light into the dank, Dragon Ball Z-print-button-downed basement that is the state of fashion in comics.

Next month, DC Comics will launch Sensation Comics, a digital-first anthology series featuring new Wonder Woman stories from a wide variety of creators and styles. This approach follows in the footsteps of the acclaimed Adventures Of Superman series, and is similarly structured – a new 10-page digital chapter will be released each week, and the stories will then be collected in a monthly print edition, with paperbacks presumably to follow. During last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, we got the chance to hang out at the DC booth and have a quick round-table conversation with legendary Love & Rockets cartoonist Gilbert Hernandez, Smallville illustrator Cat Staggs, and Vampire Diaries writer Sean E. Williams, and ask about what they have planned for their installments of the new Wonder Woman book.

A team of international artists teamed up with Face This, a Dutch foundation, to design a line of graphic t-shirts based off of the original artwork of Indonesian children, resulting in a collaboration that is both meaningful and stylish. Face The project was untaken to raise money for the Asy-Syifa community center (Bogor, Indonesia) through the means of turning their students' illustrations into t-shirts for sale. This year Face This has collaborated with renown illustrators to bring these designs to life. Cecilia Carlstedt, Ana Benaroya, Marguerite Sauvage, Kate Gibb, Dan Page, David Despau, KT Smail, Frida Wannerberger and Billie Jean, who offer unique design insight to create a chic spin on these fun ideas.
