For as long as he's been around, Space Ghost hasn't had very many different styles. The dude is still rocking the same white jumpsuit and yellow cape he's worn since he debuted in the '60s. Sometimes you just don't need to mess with such a terrific design. That can be a bit of a challenge though for a company like Mezco, which likes putting out a few variants for the same figure to give fans a few more options. That's been a hallmark of Mezco's One:12 Collective line, with numerous figures getting alternate versions that bring something new to the table. Not every character has gotten one though, so it didn't seem like Space Ghost would be getting one either. Fortunately for everyone, that won't be the case. Though Space Ghost doesn't have a costume variant like the Dark Knight Returns Batman or Judge Dredd figures, he will indeed be getting an exclusive variant through Entertainment Earth. Turning a figure like this invisible isn't exactly something that could be done, so Mezco's done its best to approximate Space Ghost's phasing powers by giving him the ability to glow in the dark.

Is there anyone that doesn't love Space Ghost? Hands people, let's see them. Okay, you're all excused. Space Ghost rules and I will accept no other possible outcome. Those of you still with us, prepare to be amazed with quite possibly the best Space Ghost collectible that's ever been made. And definitely the creepiest Blip. In my lifetime, there have been but two attempts at making a good Space Ghost figure before Mezco's crack at the character in the One:12 Collective line. Art Asylum's Space Ghost: Coast to Coast (complete with desk and chair) was definitely aimed at a specific audience, but was a solid sculpt with good articulation. The same could be said of Jazwares' take, which was much more rooted in the more traditional Hanna-Barbera style and came with a funky Blip. Neither touches what Mezco's doing with its take.

Frank Castle's peak popularity was 20 years ago when he had 65 different solo titles on shelves every month, but even then we never really got a whole lot of Punisher action figures. This was despite him arguably being as big a comic book star back in the '90s as Deadpool is today. Yet the Punisher just never caught on in action figure form. He's been sprinkled throughout the various toy lines Marvel's had a hand in over the years, but only his recent resurgence has him back on the articulated radar. Last year, Sideshow unveiled its sixth-scale Punisher figure, and Hasbro has a new Walgreen's exclusive, Jim Lee-era Punisher on the way for Marvel Legends. As nice as they are, Mezco just might have everyone beat with the latest addition to the One:12 Collective.

He might have a TV show and his own comic, but when it comes to action figures, Green Arrow doesn't quite get the amount of love the rest of his DC counterparts do. I can practically count on one hand the number of Green Arrow figures we've gotten in the past few years, which is fairly strange given his presence in pop culture over that same time frame. You'd think it's because there isn't a whole lot left to say about the Emerald Archer in action figure form, but then Mezco comes along and changes the game. Since its launch, the One:12 Collective has been collector favorite, and the expansion into the rich character roster of DC Comics has only made the heart grow fonder for more. Particularly when they look as fantastic as the all-new Green Arrow. Inspired in part by the current show, the seminal Longbow Hunters and his early 2000s resurrection, the One:12 Collective Green Arrow is as gorgeous a figure as this character may ever see.

This year is not going to be a great year for my savings account. There are just too many incredible collectibles on the way, and I never learned self-control when it came to buying things I wanted. I guess things like Mezco's One:12 Collective will prove valuable in other ways, such as helping me lose weight since I won't be able to afford to eat in order to keep up with my horrible toy habit. I've written fairly extensively about Mezco's One:12 Collective and the promise it holds over the past year. With each new reveal of an upcoming character or license, the 6" series grows stronger. This year's Toy Fair showed a number of stunning new pieces that would shine on any shelf in any collection. That's definitely true with The Flash here, who will be joining the DC Comics portion of the line next week.

Late last year, Mezco revealed the Star Trek license would be part of its One:12 Collective series, beginning with the most memorable science officer in fiction, Mr. Spock. Though not due to arrive on shelves until later this spring, Mezco surprised us with a pre-release version at Toy Fair earlier this month. Though it doesn't come with all the accessories, the Spock we got was the final figure version, which gives a strong enough idea of what to expect from the complete release. As we'd expected from the production photos shared in December, the One:12 Collective Mr. Spock is another fine entry into what is quickly becoming Mezco's signature figure line. Out of the box, this pre-release Spock includes the base figure, the posing stand and a Starfeet insignia base matching Spock's rank. The retail version will come with an alternate head, multiple alternate hands, a phaser, tricorder and communicator. Kudos to Mezco for thinking to include the "Live long and prosper" salute hand in this version though. The simple hands would have been fine, but at least now we can honor the man the way he should be remembered forever--as a kind, smart man who wanted nothing but peace and prosperity for all life.

Excellent. Amazing. Unbelievable. Awesome. What's left to say about Mezco's One:12 Collective that we haven't already said? Well we better start thinking of some new superlatives because 2016 is going to be ridonkulous for this line. Where once Mezco was content to start slow and only release a few figures in a calendar year, the company's plans for 2016 include more than a dozen different figures from Marvel, DC Comics, Universal Monsters, classic animation, and Star Trek. If you had told me last year when Batman and Judge Dredd released that just one year later we'd be able to start building our own Justice League in the One:12 Collective, I'd have told you to git out. But here we are, and Mezco's positioning itself to be the new leader in 1/12 scale figures. That's a tall order given the competition, but Mezco's not really playing on the same field as Hasbro and Mattel, or even NECA. Though NECA does have its own line of clothed figures, the retro-inspired line is meant to pay tribute to the past with the advances of modern figure design. Mezco's approach is to take on the high-end of the spectrum, where the likes of Sideshow and Hot Toys reside, but provide a smaller figure with just as much detail and accessories for less than half the price. Not only does that make One:12 Collective more attractive from a collecting and displaying standpoint, but it's also a lot easier on the wallet... provided you don't want to buy them all like I do.

Mezco's One:12 Collective Batman and Superman Rise for the Dawn of Justice
Mezco is not holding back with its One:12 Collective line. Things kicked off last year with The Dark Knight Returns Batman, and the line expanded to two more figures with Judge Dredd and the Mutant Leader from DKR. Throughout 2015, Mezco teased even more figures for the line, but 2016 has seen announcement after announcement for this figure series and we're only five weeks into the new year. What's more, of the five figures announced since the end of 2015 (including Spock, who was revealed just before Christmas) none have been of characters previously shown at trade shows or conventions. Over the weekend, Mezco unveiled the first official looks at its upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice One:12 Collective figures. To this point, Mezco's been reliant on more classic interpretations of its comic and TV figures in the One:12 line, but these new figures mark the first time the company will release figures based on a property that's hitting theaters in the same year. Not that there was anything wrong with Mezco's previous strategy. The company has a lot of evergreen licenses, but seeing that Mezco is pushing hard to keep things current with the fan-favorite line bodes well for its future.

Mezco Makes it So for Sulu in the Star Trek One:12 Collective
While the world waits for more on Mezco's One:12 Collective superheroes, the company is steadily dropping new Star Trek characters to hold the fort. Not that we're complaining. For too long Star Trek's original cast has been relegated to some fairly unremarkable figures. The One:12 Collective has been a solid gold hit for Mezco since it started last year, and its latest additions should keep it trending upwards. Joining Spock this year will be Hikaru Sulu, the fencing expert and senior helmsman of the original USS Enterprise. Since debuting in the '60s, Sulu went on to become an accomplished member of Starfleet in his own right, eventually captaining the USS Excelsior. As great as it was to see Sulu get proper accolades, he's most fondly remembered for his appearances on the original show, where George Takei made the Japanese physicist such an icon of science fiction. It's also the version Mezco is hoping to celebrate with its upcoming figure.
