Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink

Sarah Stern is an up-and-coming talent in the world of comics. She primarily provides color art for comics like Goldie Vance and Brave Chef Brianna, but she's also created storyboards for animation, and recently created a webcomic, Cindersong, which she writes, illustrates, and colors herself. ComicsAlliance had the chance to talk to Stern at Emerald City Comicon, where we nerded out about how the heck colorists create magic on the page, and talked about fantasy worldbuilding and making friends in the comics world.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink catches up with Pink Ranger Kim in the years after her tenure as a Power Ranger, and pits her against a new threat from an old enemy. With the third issue of the miniseries, Tini Howard has taken over scripting. ComicsAlliance checked in with Howard to talk about her approach to the Pink Ranger, and why Goldar is such a great character, and we got to share a preview of her first issue.

This week saw the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #1, and for fans of America's greatest tokusatsu heroes, it might just be the most unexpected story of the year. Rather than focusing on her time as a Power Ranger in Angel Grove, Kelly Thompson, Brenden Fletcher, Daniele Di Nicuolo and Sarah Stern's series picks up when Kimberly is retired from active duty and stumbles across a plot that threatens her family --- and an entire city in France. To find out more, I talked to Thompson about the choice to show readers an era of Kimberly's life that we've never seen, the exploration of her relationships with the other rangers, and the new costume that Kimberly's sporting in the series.

There are few comic series that feel quite as tailored to my interests as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink. A brand new series out today, the comic is a collaboration between two of my favorite comic writers, Brenden Fletcher and Kelly Thompson, writing for one of the female leads from one of my favorite TV shows growing up. When Boom Studios announced the series earlier this year, I am instantly sold simply on that information alone. But Fletcher and Thompson’s work on issue one, with artist Daniele Di Nicuolo, colorist Sarah Stern, and letterer Ed Dukeshire, goes beyond just nostalgic fare for the Mighty Morphin fan.

Boom Studios has revealed three Fried Pie exclusive variant covers for Lumberjanes and Might Morphin Power Rangers: Pink by artists Wook Jin Clark, Carolyn Nowak, and Paulina Ganucheau. The Lumberjanes: Makin' the Ghost of It #1 cover by Nowak and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #1 cover by Clark will both be offered exclusively at Fried Pie Con on May 28th at the 2nd & Charles store in Kennesaw, Georgia, where Power Rangers: Pink co-writer Brenden Fletcher will appear for a store signing. Ganucheau's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #1 cover will be available from Fried Pie as part of the book's regular release.

It seems that the launch of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was so successful that Boom Studios is following it up with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink, a solo miniseries starring Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, co-written by Brenden Fletcher of Gotham Academy and Batgirl, and Kelly Thompson of Jem and the Holograms, with art by Mirror's Edge: Exordium's Daniele Di Nicuolo, and covers by Elsa Charretier and Marguerite Sauvage.
