Titan Plans An All-New "Dan Dare' Series For 2017
I don't know that any of us expected it, but 2016 is turning out to be a surprisingly great year for Dan Dare. Originally created in 1950 as the star of The Eagle, the erstwhile pilot of the future who dedicated his considerable skills to battling the sinister Mekon and his army of Venusian Treens seems to be undergoing a revival of sorts. Not only is there an upcoming collection of Dan Dare strips from his late-'70s tenure as a feature in 2000 AD, but Titan Comics has announced that it's going to publish an all-new Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future series in early 2017.

Archie Announces A 'Riverdale' One-Shot And Series Tying Into The New TV Show [NYCC 2016]
I don't know that I've ever wanted to see a live-action comics-inspired television show as much as I want to watch Riverdale, and considering that we are currently living in an era where you can see stuff like Gorilla Grodd, the Martian Manhunter, and Red Kryptonite on TV every week, that's saying something. The show, which debuts mid-season next year on the CW, has promised a darker take on the Archie Comics characters, full of dark secrets - and if you're calmly enduring the wait to find out what kind of dark secrets Jughead has, then you're a far more patient person than I am. But for the rest of us, there's good news. Today, Archie announced that they're going to be publishing Riverdale, a prequel one-shot followed by an ongoing tie-in series early next year, written by showrunner and Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with art by Alitha Martinez.

Lego's Second Wave of DC Super Hero Girls Sets Revealed
The DC Super Hero Girls debuted more than a year ago, but to this point, the rollout of tie in merchandise has been incredibly calculated. Mattel's action dolls, the flagship figures for DC Super Hero Girls, have only just been in wide circulation for a few months after a soft launch of exclusivity at Target. For what it's worth, the line has apparently been a success. It's hard to find the figures anywhere. Hopefully fans will have better luck this winter when Lego kicks off its part of the DC Super Hero Girls partnership with a number of building sets set in that universe. The first wave of Lego DC Super Hero Girls sets is due out this November, but today Lego has announced the second batch, which will hit stores in January of next year.

DC Resurrects Wildstorm As Pop-Up Imprint Under Warren Ellis
In the late '90s and early '00s, Warren Ellis helped reinvent Wildstorm Comics for the 21st century with runs on titles such as Stormwatch, The Authority and Planetary. The imprint and its characters were folded into the regular DC Universe as part of The New 52, but next year DC is setting them up in their own corner of the publishing line once again, with Ellis taking control as the curator of a new "pop-up" imprint similar to Gerard Way's Young Animal.

DC Reveals New Details For 2017's 'Kamandi Challenge'
A while back DC announced plans to revive Jack Kirby's Kamandi: The Last Boy On Earth in January in a form that, to say the least, is a little unique. It's called The Kamandi Challenge, and the idea --- loosely inspired by 1985's DC Challenge and its game of storytelling hot potato --- is that the twelve-issue series will feature a new creative team, randomly paired together from a list of twelve writers and twelve artists for each issue, each picking up the story where the previous team leaves off. It's an interesting way to mark the 100th anniversary of Kirby's birth in 2017. In advance of New York Comic-Con, DC has revealed a first look at some of the artwork from the series, plus new details of how the creative teams will approach the story.

Valiant Reveals Michael Rowe As Live-Action Ninjak
For the past few weeks Valiant has been hinting at a live-action project to be announced at this year's New York Comic-Con, though I was beginning to think it was just a dream I had. Honestly, a live-action project about Ninjak with very few details other than that it also stars former Power Ranger Jason David Frank and professional wrestler John Morrison? If that doesn't sound like the product of my subconscious left to run wild, then folks, I don't know what does. Now, though, as we get a little closer to NYCC, enough details have been filled out that I have finally, shockingly discovered that this is actually happening, and not just a wish I made on a shooting star --- and today's reveal is the coolest one yet: a look at Michael Rowe, who's set to star as Live-Action Ninjak.
