Hollywood can't get enough of superhero universes right now. Marvel's got its Avengers movie universe at Disney. The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are going to have one at 20th Century Fox very soon. DC is in the midst of building one at Warner Bros. And now, Sony is going to build one around Spider-Man, with movies focused on bad guys. Namely, Venom and the Sinister Six.

His identity was a matter of speculation for months, but now that the release of Star Trek: Into Darkness is safely a couple months behind us, IDW is releasing a brand-new, six-issue miniseries to offer up the details of big bad Khan Noonien Singh's origin. Writer Mike Johnson and artist Claudia Balboni will work with Roberto Orci, one of the screenwriters of the movie, to tie the series into the

Fox may have passed on a TV pilot based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez's Eisner Award-winning IDW horror comic series Locke & Key back in 2011, but now it seems it could be skipping the small screen altogether. Universal Pictures has optioned L&K with feature films in mind, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Bobby Cohen set to produce through their K/O Paper Products banner alongside IDW CEO and Publisher Ted Adams. Universal's EVP (Executive Vice President, not electronic voice phenomenon) of Production Jon Mone and Creative Executive Jay Polidoro will reportedly oversee the project, with Ben Kim developing on the K/O side of things.
