Marvel's Star Wars titles have provided a lot of hits for the publisher, and later this year Kieron Gillen and Jason Aaron will team up for their second Star Wars crossover in a five-part story that plunges the casts of Star Wars and Doctor Aphra into a Gothic horror adventure appropriately titled Screaming Citadel.

Rogue One has proven the viability of Star Wars spin-off movies outside the main Skywalker saga, and meanwhile the Star Wars comics are going gangbusters at Marvel, so it seems like only a matter of time until there's a Star Wars movie based on a comic. So far, the most popular character created for the current Star Wars comics is Doctor Aphra, who was introduced in Darth Vader and currently stars in her own series written by Kieron Gillen, with art by Salvador Larroca and Kev Walker.

Yesterday evening Marvel Comics announced that popular Star Wars character Doctor Aphra will be getting her own ongoing series in December by Kieron Gillen and Kev Walker. Aphra is one of the most popular new characters to come from Marvel's recent line of Star Wars titles, but if you don't know who she is, we've assembled a Crash Course to get you up to speed.

Several weeks ago, Marvel cryptically teased an upcoming event codenamed "MU," eventually revealed to stand for Monsters Unleashed, a new event comic scheduled for January 2016. Today, Marvel released more information about the event that sees classic Marvel monsters such as Fin Fang Foom, Goom, and even Groot clashing with the heroes of the Marvel Universe.

Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca's Darth Vader series has stretched the bounds of what was thought possible with a villain-centric comic, and perhaps most impressively of all, it managed to cohesively link the Vader of the prequels with the Vader of the original trilogy in a convincing and compelling fashion. Over the past two years, the creators have taken Vader on a perilous journey into becoming his own man and learning to slowly defy the Emperor, and in December's Darth Vader #25 everything comes to its epic conclusion. Marvel has sent out an unlettered preview featuring Vader, Aphra, and of course Emperor Palpatine, to whet our appetites ahead of the finale.

Darth Vader, by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, is coming to an end with issue #25. To mark the occasion, Marvel is releasing the issue with 12 different covers. The main cover is by Juan Gimenez, and looks like it could be the poster for a Darth Vader movie. Adi Granov offers a similarly cinematic cover, which also features Doctor Aphra, BT-1, and 0-0-0, the supporting cast of the series. They appear on a few of the other covers, while the rest focus on the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

We’ve been celebrating Mutant Week all week here at ComicsAlliance, and it’s fair to say that everyone has had a lot of fun. However, now it’s time to get serious and talk about the stuff that really matters, that being: What the heck is Xorn’s deal?! If you’re unaware, Xorn was a character with a cool design and a cool hook, introduced by Grant Morrison and Leinil Francis Yu in New X-Men Annual way back in 2001. He had a star for a face, he was a healer, and he taught the remedial class at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters. Then, Grant Morrison pulled the rug out from under us with a reveal so drastic that Marvel spent years trying to to undo it in a satisfying way.
