Born on this day in 1967, Brian Michael Bendis is one of the most important and influential figures in western comics in the 21st century. From indie comics wunderkind to top dog at Marvel Comics, Bendis’ career has been expansive and occasionally revolutionary, so today we're taking a moment to celebrate his achievements.

Jessica Jones creator Brian Michael Bendis apparently jumped the gun to reveal that Cinemax had an eye toward adapting Marvel Icon imprint Scarlet (especially given he claimed HBO at the time). That said, with the cat out of the bag, the revered comic artist teases that Scarlet would very-likely follow some of her reality-bending roots into the live-action adaptation.

Marvel TV series are rapidly spreading beyond their ABC and Netflix homes, between FOX, Freeform and more, so might HBO be next? Jessica Jones co-creator Brian Michael Bendis seems to have confirmed as much, developing Marvel Icon imprint Scarlet for a live-action series with the prestige cabler.

We’ve haven’t seen hide nor hair of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev’s creator-owned inner-city revolutionary comic Scarlet since 2013, but Bendis has always promised that they will return to the series, and now that promise is finally coming true. This May sees the return of Scarlet for three more issues over the course of six weeks which will round out the second arc, beginning with Scarlet #8 on May 4th.
