For not having had a whole lot of collectibles over the past few years, it certainly shaping up to be a good 2017 for Kamala Khan. The most current Ms. Marvel has been a fan-favorite since her debut, but only now are companies beginning to capitalize on a fanbase eager for ways to show their affections towards the teen hero. Kotobukiya's upcoming Bishoujo Ms. Marvel sets the bar fairly high for the rest of the competition, capturing Kamala's attitude and style without compromising her character.

It was a relatively small showing from Kotobukiya at this year's Toy Fair, but nearly everything being shown off was brand new. That includes a healthy dose of ArtFX statues both large and small, and some new licenses like DC's television shows. Sure, there were more Star Wars and Bishoujo pieces in place, but Koto has plenty in store for fans of just about everything under the sun.

As she's grown in popularity, we've seen Squirrel Girl crop up in a number of comics outside of her own series. We still haven't gotten very many collectibles based on Marvel's most unbeatable hero, but that trend is starting to catch up to the printed page. She's already gotten a Funko figure, but next year she'll also get a more premium statue from Kotobukiya.

For the past seven years, Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line has been providing statues from the Marvel universe cast in Shunya Yamashita's vision. Yamashita's takes on the likes of Black Widow, Rogue, the Invisible Woman, She-Hulk and many more have been the driving force behind the line's success. Since the Bishoujo series focuses entirely on "beautiful girls," we've been absent some of the more notable names in the Marvel roster. We've been more than content with a company exclusively devoting a line to female characters, but not-so recent developments in Marvel comics had us clamoring for some of those new lady legacy heroes. Finally, prayers to the All-Father have been answered. This winter, Thor joins the lineage of the Bishoujo line, and she strikes a commanding pose with her arrival.

Though New York Comic Con isn't typically a show where Kotobukiya reveals many new items, you can always count on the company to tease a handful of never-before-seen pieces. This year, the pickings weren't robust, but they will make fans of Koto's Bishoujo series for statues happy. While there were some nice Star Wars figurines at the booth as well, the primary source of new statues came from the "beautiful girl" series. Both the Harley Quinn and Spider-Gwen teased with silhouette's back at SDCC were given the concept art treatment at NYCC. Harley will be represented by her New 52 Suicide Squad look, which we knew was coming, but is still slightly disappointing. The second version created by Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti is much more interesting, and doesn't make you want to cringe just by glancing at it. Shunya Yamashita's design does the best it can with what he's got to work with, but this piece is already shaping up to pale in comparison to the classic Harley Quinn.

Lady Deadpool Lives Again With Kotobukiya's New Bishoujo Statue
Marvel's Deadpool is so insanely popular he got his own team book full of other Deadpools. That's a real thing that happened. One of those Deadpools just so happened to be his female incarnation from another dimension, Wanda Wilson. She's got all the abilities and powers of the standard 616 universe's Deadpool, minus the horrible recurring cancer (hers was completely healed). As such, she's actually not a scarred mess under the mask. She boldly sacrificed herself to save the universe from Galactipool, who was part of a massive evil Deadpool invasion of sorts. Now her memory can live on thanks to Kotobukiya and its bishoujo line.
