The DC Universe doesn’t lack for some of the most iconic heroes and heroines in comics. So it’s a good thing for the baddies that the DC Universe also has its share of great and heinous villains. With the DC villains being as colorful as they are, there are plenty of excellent cosplayers out there to offer up the darker side of cosplay. In every cape, cowl, and scar, these cosplayers bring the frightening visages of their favorite villains to life, and make the cosplay world just a little more exciting. Solomon Grundy can't tell you much about himself. The exact date of his birth is lost to time, and then there's the matter of whether he was born as Cyrus Gold in the 19th century, or if Grundy's birth came much later than that, when he rose up out of the swamp wearing Gold's corpse like a suit. But everyone knows that Solomon Grundy was born on a Monday. So this Monday, which is also Halloween, seems like the perfect time to pay tribute to the original zombie supervillain, who was originally created by writer Alfred Bester and artist Paul Reinman.

This week I'm doing something a little different. With the DC movie universe expanding, all the talk about Suicide Squad, and the recent announcement that Black Manta will be in the Aquaman movie, I've been thinking about the future of DC supervillains on screen. We've also been doing this fun DC Supervillain Draft, and that's got me thinking in particular about the Legion of Doom, who originated in the Challenge of the Superfriends cartoon, and what an interesting collection of classic DC villains they are. So I decided to cast the Legion of Doom.

The Suicide Squad movie has brought some of DC's weirdest villains to the big screen even before some of the publisher's major heroes could make their debut, and judging by the movie's huge opening weekend, audiences are only too happy to meet the bad guys. Of course, there are enough great DC supervillains to fill Belle Reve Prison several times over; many more than we might ever meet at the movie theatre. So for ComicsAlliance's third fantasy superteam draft, following on from our fantasy X-Men teams and our fantasy LGBTQ teams, we've asked our contributors to fight it out to put together the best DC supervillain teams, drawing only from the main line DC comics continuities.
