The Great Super-Costume Poll: Supes & Wondy
For today's poll, we're looking at two of the biggest icons in the superhero biz. DC unveiled new costumes for Superman and Wonder Woman only yesterday, but we're not going to ask you to vote on those before you've had a chance to adjust, so instead we're looking at these heroes' best known costumes --- and a few of their other notable wardrobe changes.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: S.E.X.
Today's poll is all about sex. Some superheroes are known for their provocatively sexy costumes, and because sex in superhero costumes isn't always terribly sophisticated, that often just means costumes that are revealing and/or skintight. But just because a costume is sexy doesn't mean it can't also be stylish. Here are five costumes and characters known for their eye-candy appeal.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Batmen
For today's polls, we're looking at a man whose costumes have tended to follow quite similar patterns, but with some notable changes in detail. Batman's costume has had a limited range of colors, a consistent silhouette (allowing for longer and shorter ears), and one perennial question; oval or no oval? Whichever Batman costume gets the highest approval rating in these polls will be deemed the great Batman costume --- and all the others will be dropped down the deepest Batcave chasm.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Pulp Heroes
Costume design is one of the great strengths of the superhero genre, a way to establish distinctive visual shorthand for a character and reveal key details about concept, purpose, and personality. But which is the best superhero costume of all time? This month, we’re asking you to decide, by voting up your favorites and voting down the rest. When we have your votes, we’ll compile a list of the greatest super-costumes of all time. For our seventh day of polls, we're looking at the designs of some of the most celebrated pulp heroes ever to grace the comics page. They don't have to have originated in comics, or to have originated in the pulp era, and they don't have to wear a domino mask or a red scarf or a gun belt. But it does look pretty cool when they do. Or does it?
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Storms
To kick off our second week of polls, we're looking at a character who has a rather unique costume history. The X-Man Storm has had several different looks over the years, and though they've often had unifying elements, they've also embraced very different styles. But does Storm have one iconic look that dominates all the others? And has she ever actually looked bad? We've picked out five of her famous looks for you to vote on.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Mss. Marvel
For day five, we decided to embrace one of our reader's suggestions. It's been said that this site loves Kamala Khan, and it's true, we do love Kamala Khan! What's not to love? So today we're asking you to rate the costumes of the various Mss Marvel --- not just Kamala, but Carol, Carol again, and poor, forgotten Sharon --- plus DC's own "Ms." Marvel, the hero better known as Mary.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Captains Marvel
For day four, we look at the high-ranking uniforms of the Captains Marvel, with our pick of the best costume for each major character to bear the title --- four of them from Marvel and one from Fawcett (via DC). How does Carol Danvers' cosplay-favorite flight-suit stack up against the big red cheese's fancily embellished union suit?
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Magic Pants And Matching Shoes
Costume design is one of the great strengths of the superhero genre, a way to establish distinctive visual shorthand for a character and reveal key details about concept, purpose, and personality. But which is the best superhero costume of all time? This month, we’re asking you to decide, by voting up your favorites and voting down the rest. When we have your votes, we’ll compile a list of the greatest super-costumes of all time. For day three, it's the magic hour; five of the finest, flashiest, most flamboyant witch-and-wizard costumes in the business, ranging from the Gothic Lolita look of Runaways' Nico Minoru to the fishnet-and-top hat classic stage magician (with fishnets) look of Zatanna --- and not forgetting the weird robes and curlicued collar of Doctor Stephen Strange himself.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Bat Pals
Costume design is one of the great strengths of the superhero genre, a way to establish distinctive visual shorthand for a character and reveal key details about concept, purpose, and personality. But which is the best superhero costume of all time? This month, we’re asking you to decide, by voting up your favorites and voting down the rest. When we have your votes, we’ll compile a list of the greatest super-costumes of all time. In today's poll we look at some of costumes worn by the members of notorious loner Batman's extended bat-family, including the recently revamped Burnside take on Batgirl, the original Robin design first worn by Dick Grayson, and the same character's much later Nightwing costume. We haven't included the Nightwing costume with the fringe, as we're pretty sure that costume isn't going to win any polls.
The Great Super-Costume Poll: Spider-Men & Spider-Women
Costume design is one of the great strengths of the superhero genre, a way to establish distinctive visual shorthand for a character and reveal key details about concept, purpose, and personality. But which is the best superhero costume of all time? This month, we're asking you to decide, by voting up your favorites and voting down the rest. When we have your votes, we'll compile a list of the greatest super-costumes of all time. For day one, we're looking at Spider-Man costumes --- and Spider-Woman costumes. Steve Ditko's Spider-Man costume is considered one of the all-time classics, but it's also inspired some incredible variations. Today, rather than jump rightt in with the classic blue-and-red Spidey costume, we're asking for your take on some of the other spider-folk, including Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen.
