The Inhumans

Marvel’s The Inhumans TV series is arriving faster than we realize, and its IMAX debut will set a director to match. As production gears up for a September release, Marvel has officially set feature director Roel Reine to helm the first two big-screen episodes of the adapted property.

There are still a moon’s worth of details to sort out on Marvel’s The Inhumans TV series before a 2017 premiere, but IMAX may be looking to lock down a schedule early. Not only does the theater company have a projected date and runtime for the new series, we may also know its official ABC premiere date.

Marvel’s The Inhumans TV series made clear at the moment of its announcement that the new IMAX-shot story wouldn’t use Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a basis for spinoff, though it remains an open question if the two series might share any mythology in common. At the very least, we know the new Marvel series won’t utilize the same VFX as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., perhaps creating a different look.

Marvel has released precious few details of its upcoming Inhumans TV series, beyond IMAX plans for the 2017 premiere. Now, a new report clarifies just how much of the series will use IMAX technology, and why some of the early hours will require a grander scale.

The state of Marvel’s ABC TV series got a shot in the arm with news that The Inhumans would arrive in 2017, though not necessarily replacing a movie in the MCU’s expanding slate. Certainly, a fancy new IMAX TV series bodes ill for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but sources say one will not necessarily replace the other.

Well, this is certainly unexpected. Marvel’s Inhumans has bounced around theatrical release dates enough that many wondered if Marvel might make the film at all, and now the project appears to have undergone TV-genesis. Yes, Marvel’s The Inhumans is now an ABC TV series premiering in fall 2017, debuting its first two episodes in IMAX theaters!

A new synopsis for Season 3 reveals not only the hulking actor behind Marvel’s Lash, but also the new threat posed by Constance Zimmer, the Inhumans and others alike.

Movie rumors on the Internet are notoriously difficult to verify or confirm. (What I've started referring to as the Katee Sackhoff Incident is proof enough of that.) So take this with the appropriate grain of salt: Collider, citing unnamed sources, is reporting that Marvel Studios is moving ahead with an Inhumans movie, with a script written by Joe Robert Cole, a writer who worked his way through the studio's in-house writing program.
