Saddened though we were to learn that Megalyn E.k. couldn’t join Legends of Tomorrow fulltime, the new Vixen seems nicely to be filling out the role. See for yourself, as Star Wars star Maisie Richardson-Sellers suits up as the DC hero in a new Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 photo!

Just as The CW’s Arrow-verse births a new Vixen, so too is her comic progenitor about to have some company. The CW confirms that CW Seed will launch a new animated series set within the universe, Freedom Fighters: The Ray, featuring a gay lead with a voice to be cast for eventual live-action debut.

Just when you thought you’d had your fill of superheroes at Comic-Con 2016, animated or otherwise, Vixen returns to unite The CW’s DC players once more. Our first look at Season 2 of the animated CW Seed drama brings both Barry Allen and Firestorm into the mix, but who’s the weathered new big bad?

DC superhero Vixen has been receviving a long overdue push in the last couple of years, led by CW Seed's animated Vixen series, a guest appearance on Arrow, and an upcoming role for a version of the character in Legends of Tomorrow. Yet for all her TV appearances, DC's best known black female hero hasn't had the same sort of support in comics. That may finally change with the news that Vixen will feature in the next arc of the digital first series DC Comics Bombshells.

Vixen fans were saddened to learn that the onetime-animated Arrow and Flash character couldn’t join Legends of Tomorrow outright, but the DC heroes will come to her when Season 2 debuts this summer on CW Seed. Not only will Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin again lend their voices, so too will several Legends and a surprise guest.

The moment Megalyn E.K.’s Vixen made the jump to live-action with Arrow Season 4, fans clamored either for a full-time gig or a Legends of Tomorrow role. Well, good news, sort of! Vixen will indeed join the Legends as a full-fledged Season 2 regular, but not quite the same Vixen we’ve been spending time with.

Last night saw Arrow making history of sorts, bringing DC superhero Vixen to live action with the same actor hired to play her in a tie-in animated series. The appearance went over strongly enough that fans are naturally clamoring for Megalyn E.K. to lead her own solo series, but is a full Vixen possible in the current slate? Arrow heads weigh in.

It’s time for another installment of Pointed Commentary, the feature where grizzled Arrow watcher Matt D. Wilson and newcomer Chris Haley dig into the details of Team Arrow cleaning up the filthy, crime-ridden streets of Star City. This week’s “Taken” does not feature Liam Neeson, as the title would imply, but it does involve Team Arrow using a special set of skills to join forces with none other than CW Seed’s very own Vixen to save a child in danger. Also: Relationship drama! Gregory Smith directed the episode, with a story by Marc Guggenheim and a script by Keto Shimizu and Brian Ford Sullivan.

It's no secret that white male leads have dominated comic books since --- well forever. In the '60s, Marvel and DC finally started to put a change to that with the addition of super-powered people of color, which led to some of today's biggest names in comics. But it still wasn't enough. Eventually the lack of diversity led to the onset of Milestone Media in the '90s, where Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, and Derek T. Dingle crafted several intriguing characters. With an increasingly active black nerd, or blerd, community, new black characters are being created every day --- primarily through independent publishers, though Marvel has also kickstarted a focus on one of its most notable black characters --- but more on that later. To celebrate Black History Month, ComicsAlliance is running down our list of 20 Great Black Comic Book Characters. Our list considers old staples as well as some new favorites, including a certain katana wielding badass, space explorers and of course, plenty of superheroes.

The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow pulled quite a bit of focus from Arrow and The Flash’s shared universe, so much so that we’d nearly forgotten the animated Vixen series on CW Seed. Now, the network has announced who will voice the iconic animal-wielding hero, as well as what Arrow and Flash stars will drop in on Vixen for some shared continuity.
