It's the ninth day of Christmas at ComicsAlliance in our 12 Days of Christmas original art series! Every day until the 25th, we'll be posting new illustrations from comics creators at Periscope Studio that reinterpret the days of the Christmas carol through the kaleidoscope of comics.

Today the stage belongs to Colleen Coover. I first encountered Colleen's work when she was doing the most adorable back-up stories the world has even seen for "X-Men: First Class" by Jeff Parker (Day 5!), before she moved on to doing the most adorable back-up stories the world has ever seen for roughly a jillion other Marvel Comics. In general, everything she touches turns into pure joy, and she's got a characteristically wonderful take on "Nine Ladies Dancing" that is especially appropriate because Colleen will soon be adding her talents to Marvel's "Girl Comics" anthology in March, part of the year-long "Marvel Women" event that we can only hope will involve as much Colleen Coover as one company can reasonably fit into 365 days.

Ahem:

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Nine ladies dancing

Eight Heroines a Milking

Seven Bella Swans a swimming

Six Geese a Laying

Five Power Riiiiiiings

Four Calling Birds

Three French Hens

Two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtledoves

And a "partridge" in a pear tree.
