Adventure Time fans hoping for some solid documentation of the ins and outs of the Land of Ooo only have to wait until August to have their needs met. That's when Abrams Books will release The Adventure Time Encyclopedia, 160 6 x 9" pages of new art, secret lore and tips for living.

The book's got a cool gimmick, too (one the author of this post is intimately familiar with). Its credited editor is Lord of Evil Hunson Abadeer, working through voice actor and comedian Martin Olson, who actually does voice the Lord of Evil on the show. According to ICv2, series creator Pendleton Ward will also contribute new content, and artists including Renee French, Tony Millionaire, Celeste Moreno, Aisleen Roman, and Mahendra Sing will add 150 full-color illustrations.

Abrams' product page for the book also notes that characters such as Finn, Jake and Marceline will contribute comments in the margins.

Comic fans might recognize the Abrams name, perhaps for its cartoonier comics output like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and The Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis -- but it's also published artier graphic novels such as last year's My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf, and Jose-Luis Bocquet and Catel Muller's Kiki de Montparnasse.

Abrams doesn't specify whether the Encyclopedia will directly tie in to or reference Boom Studios' Adventure Time comic series, but fans who can't wait until August can get a quick AT fix with this week's issue #15.
