Disney Planning TV Channels Centered Around Marvel and ‘Star Wars’
Acquiring Lucasfilm and Marvel were just two minor steps in Disney’s grand plan to eventually own everything you love and control your life as Entertainment Overlord Supreme of the Planet Earth. But to be fair, they are a benevolent god. A caring god. A god that wants to make its riches available to you, should you want to indulge yourself. So prepare thyself: TV channels based entire on Marvel and Star Wars content may be coming.
‘Black Panther’ May Be Eyeing a ‘Dope’ Director
With Chadwick Boseman set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the currently-filming Captain America: Civil War, we should be hearing about the director of the solo Black Panther film soon enough. While we’re still fired up over the possibility of Selma’s Ava DuVernay possibly taking the gig, another very interesting name has entered the fray.
New ‘Ant-Man’ Extended TV Spot Shrinks Into Action
The new Ant-Man TV spot isn’t going to change the minds of those not already initiated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe cult, but it's going to remind everyone that Peyton Reed’s superhero heist movie looks like a lot more fun than its troubled production would suggest. Everything that makes Marvel Studios what it is is crammed into these 60 seconds: stylish action, attractive leading men and ladies, a big name actor classing up the joint, and a just-goofy-enough sense of humor.
Kevin Feige Promises the Marvel Cinematic Universe Will Never Have a “Dark Turn”
That first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made one thing very clear: Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero throwdown is not a Marvel movie. Not in character and especially not in tone. It was the latest punch thrown in the not-so-secret war between Marvel and DC, as Warner Bros. gears up to challenge Marvel Studios at the “shared universe” game. Whether intentional or not (and we’re betting on intentional), recent statements from MCU mastermind Kevin Feige feel like a direct jab at that Batman v Superman trailer and its dark, dreary tone.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Confirms the Big Death in ‘Avengers 2’ is Permanent
Since Avengers: Age of Ultron is already well on its way to making $1 billion worldwide, chances are strong that you’ve already seen Marvel’s latest adventure and won’t need a spoiler warning about the apparent death of a main character. Still, just in case, here’s a spoiler warning, because Marvel President Kevin Feige has officially confirmed that the character in question is no longer among the living and won’t be coming back to life.
New ‘Suicide Squad’ Pic Reveals Exactly How The Joker Got His Tattoos
When we got our first look at Jared Leto’s Joker from the Suicide Squad movie a few weeks ago, the internet was torn asunder by rabid conversation. The bulk of the dialogue was about those tattoos and whether or not Batman’s arch-nemesis would ever get inked in the first place. Truth be told, it is hard to imagine a psychotic clown villain chilling in a Gotham City tattoo parlor for a few hours while he gets “Disturbed” inked on his skin. However, a newly leaked image reveals a potential origin for those tattoos and gives us another look at Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
Joss Whedon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson Discuss Quicksilver’s Marvel Future
Since every single person who clicked on this article has probably already seen Avengers: Age of Ultron, we probably shouldn’t have to warn you that we’re going to get into spoilers in about three seconds. But there are spoilers in this article.
Compare the ‘Avengers 2’ Characters to Their First Comic Book Appearance
The superheroes at the center of Avengers: Age of Ultron resonate so strongly with so many people because they’re so deeply entrenched in popular culture. Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk were around for years before Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo were even born. These aren’t just characters – they’re icons. And while serious comic book nerds know how much Earth’s mightiest heroes have changed with the times, taking a look back at what the likes of Black Widow and Hawkeye and the Vision used to look like is both entertaining and (dare we say it?) educational.
‘Sesame Street’ Parodies ‘Avengers 2’ With ‘The Aveggies’
At some point, we’re not sure when, Sesame Street stopped being a low-key educational children’s program and started being an educational children’s program that finds time to create internet-friendly parodies of whatever pop culture event is huge in a given week. So yeah, of course the show has made an Avengers-themed sketch and of course it’s called The Aveggies: Age of Bon Bon and of course it recasts Cookie Monster as the Hulk.
These Color Corrected Versions of the ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Trailer Look So Much Better
For better or worse, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel took more than a few pages from the Christopher Nolan school of superhero filmmaking, placing Superman and his foes in a bleak, gray world. The video above asks a very interesting question: What if he didn’t? What would Man of Steel (and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman) look like if Snyder let the natural colors of Superman’s costume and his world do what colors do best?
