Hot off of Ben Sears' runner-up placement in the Best Cartoonist category of our Best Of lists for 2015, Koyama Press has released a four-page preview of his upcoming book Night Air. Following the adventures of a boy and his robot as they investigate a haunted house looking for treasure, it looks like the perfect showcase for Sears' charming style and intriguing character designs.

Even better, Koyama is publishing the comic on its usual high-quality trade paper, which is the perfect medium for Sears' gritty (that's a rock joke) style and strong lines.

I've talked before about how much I enjoy Sears' art style, but clearly the one thing that was always missing from his previous work was a massive --- and surprisingly stupid --- rock monster, but thankfully we've got a preview that fixes that flaw!

From the publisher's description:

The boundless adventures of an unruly boy, his rational robot and their great gadgets filled with fantastic science stuff!

Plus Man is a roguish knave without equal, an antihero in his own mind. His coolheaded robot, however, knows better. This odd couple has just been given a break: a tip on a score of valuable alloy. The catch? The alloy is in a haunted castle. One really haunted castle.
