The first African-American superhero in comics history, the Falcon will make his big screen debut in this year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, portrayed by Anthony Mackie.

Also known as Samuel Wilson, Falcon is a longtime partner of Captain America in the comic books, and possesses the ability to communicate with birds. Accordingly, Gene Colan designed him a great colorful costume. In the film, Falcon is a presumably non-super-powered SHIELD operative with a costume that's basically a t-shirt and an amazingly cool looking wing-harness-thing.

Inspired by the comic book written by Ed Brubaker and drawn by Steve Epting (and others), Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4.
