Remember the one-page Batgirl/Supergirl comic by Mike Maihack that we all loved and thought was the greatest thing ever? What we neglected to mention at the time was that it was inspired by a similarly awesome one-page, six-panel Captain Marvel comic created by writer Nate Cosby and artist Evan "Doc" Shaner. With no sight of Captain Marvel in the new DC Universe, their strip could be the only Shazam! action you get for a while. Luckily, it's excellent, and you can check it out after the cut.A former Marvel Comics editor of such books as Thor: The Mighty Avenger, Cosby is a freelance writer and editor whose recent work includes Pig, co-written with Ben McCool and illustrated by Breno Tamura & Chris Sotomayor. On his blog, Cosby has been posting a series of monologues in the voice of various DC Comics characters. Shaner, a dedicated fan of Captain Marvel and a regular presence in CA's Best Art Ever (This Week), was inspired by Cosby's Shazam! dialogue to create the six-page comic below. The two have also collaborated on "Buddy Cops," a feature that will appear in forthcoming issues of Dark Horse Presents.
