ComicsAlliance Celebrates Hawktober!
While other sites may be content to bring you Rocktober, Shocktober or Mohawktober, ComicsAlliance is committed to celebrating the things that really matter! That's why this month, we're bringing you 31 days celebrating G.I. Joe's original commanding officer with our month-long Hawktober!DID YOU KNOW...
- When Larry Hama originally conceived of G.I. Joe as Fury Force, an update of the Howling Commandos, Hawk was meant to be Nick Fury's son.
- According to his file card, Hawk -- real name Clayton M. Abernathy -- was promoted from his original rank of colonel to his current status as a two-star general. Apparently the promotion came with a bottle of brown hair dye so people would stop getting him mixed up with Sgt. Conrad Hauser, better known as Duke.
- In the last issue of GI Joe: America's Elite, Hawk (who had been paralyzed) strapped on a jetpack and flew out of his wheelchair so that he could punch Cobra Commander in the face. It is one of the best things that has ever happened in comic books.
Join us tomorrow for more Hawktober celebrations!
