Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT, Revolver, Super Spy) and Brian Hurtt (The Sixth Gun, The Damned) have covered a lot of comic book territory over the past several years, but in 2015 the duo will team for Poppy! and the Lost Lagoon, the first in a new series of graphic novels created for kids.

Ten-year-old titular heroine Poppy Pepperton will be the star of the series, and put her typographic memory to use as she and her sidekick/self-appointed legal guardian Colt Winchester travel to the Lost Lagoon to investigate a lost civilization that lived on the back of a gigantic octopus at the behest of the Manhattan dwelling reincarnated Egyptian King Ramses MV's shrunken mummy head. Oh, and a sinister robot is on their tail. Are you getting all this?

Serving this unusual story is a unique distribution of the creative team's skills. Kindt is scripting and providing painted colors similar to his work on MIND MGMNT, with Hurtt penciling and inking.

“It’s been so exciting to see Matt thrive at Dark Horse, and I’m thrilled that he’s continuing that relationship with Poppy! and the Lost Lagoon,” said Dark Horse editor Brendan Wright in an official press release. “He and Brian are bringing just the right light touch and level of imaginative detail to make a truly fun children’s book. It’s hard to believe this is their first graphic novel in the genre!”
