Courtesy of DC Comics, ComicsAlliance brings you an advance look at new periodical comic books, collected editions, and graphic novels going on sale in April 2016 (and in some cases beyond) from the publisher’s superhero line and the mature readers Vertigo imprint.

April is all about Harley Quinn. Across four different comics, the former "Mad Love" moll brings her own brand of justice to the masses by recruiting a army of wanna-Harleys, takes on April Fool's with the rest of the Suicide Squad, conjures up some mischief with Zatanna, and even goes toe-to-toe with newcomer, Redtool. She's almost in as many books as each member of DC's Trinity, which is impressive for a character that wasn't even part of the comic universe 20 years ago.

DC's also going back to the '90s crossover well with the return of Bloodlines. There's no telling just how the mini-series will honor its legacy, but that DC chose to name the book exactly the same as a previous event alludes to there being at least some connection. Of course, this is just the beginning of Bloodlines, and Justice League #50 brings about the end of "Darkseid War." Not only will the massive issue bring about the conclusion to the epic story, it will also set up the next year and beyond for DC's biggest heroes.

All of the following books can be purchased at finer comic book shops, where you can also pre-order your selections to ensure you’ll get a copy before they sell out.

DARK NIGHT: A TRUE BATMAN STORY HC
Written by PAUL DINI
Art and cover by EDUARDO RISSO
On sale JUNE 15 • 128 pg, FC, $22.99 US • MATURE READERS
The Caped Crusader has been the all-abiding icon of justice and authority for generations. But in this surprising original graphic novel, we see Batman in a new light—as the savior who helps a discouraged man recover from a brutal attack that left him unable to face the world.
In the 1990s, Eisner Award-winning writer Paul Dini had a flourishing career writing the hugely popular Batman: The Animated Series and Tiny Toon Adventures. Walking home one evening, he was jumped and viciously beaten within an inch of his life. His recovery process was arduous, hampered by the imagined antics of the villains he was writing for television including The Joker, Harley Quinn and the Penguin. But despite how bleak his circumstances were, or perhaps because of it, Dini also always imagined the Batman at his side during his darkest moments.
DARK NIGHT: A TRUE BATMAN STORY is the harrowing and eloquent autobiographical tale of Dini’s courageous struggle to overcome a truly desperate situation. It is a Batman story like none other and one that will truly resonate with fans. Art by the incredibly talented Eduardo Risso (100 BULLETS, DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE).
