Peter Dinklage’s New Makeover Offers Clues for His ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Character

As is typically the case when a new actor joins the MCU, there’s been plenty of speculation about who Peter Dinklage might be playing in Avengers: Infinity War. But recent photos of the actor’s new hairdo, of all things, may help narrow those numerous possibilities down to just a couple — unless, of course, Joe and Anthony Russo have come up with something a little less expected.

It is entirely plausible that the Russos have concocted a role for Dinklage that consolidates a couple of existing Marvel Comics characters, but based on these photos of the actor’s makeover (via Daily Mail UK), at least two strong possibilities have emerged:

With that red hair, we can narrow the list of potential roles down to either Pip or Eitri. The lesser-known Pip was created by Jim Starlin, whose Infinity Saga series serves as the inspiration (in part) for Avengers: Infinity War. Pip was first introduced in Strange Tales #179 as a prince from Laxidazia who is transformed into a troll after a night of drinking; subsequently exiled from his home world, where trolls are considered degenerates, Pip wanders the galaxies drinking and getting into trouble — sounds sort of like Tyrion from Game of Thrones, no?

The other possibility is Eitri, King of the Dwarves, a masterful forger who created some of the most powerful weapons in the nine realms.

But Pip seems more likely — aside from the telltale red mane, he’s fairly obscure, which would allow the Russos more freedom to develop his character. Pip’s comic-book history also involves characters like Thanos, Gamora and Adam Warlock, which is pretty telling.
