Sylvester Stallone’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 went from rumor to fact with some early set photos, but we still have no idea who the iconic action star is actually playing in James Gunn’s upcoming sequel. With less than two months before the film hits theaters, Gunn has finally commented on the nature of Stallone’s role while revealing that his old pal and Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum also has a part in the Guardians’ next adventure.

Gunn was a guest on Adam Corolla’s podcast, where the host convinced the director to drop some new info from the upcoming Marvel sequel. Although he couldn’t say too much, Gunn spoke briefly about Stallone’s role, which he described as “important,” and revealed the casting of Michael Rosenbaum, who previously worked with Gunn on his web series PG Porn:

We do have a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe who are going to make their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which people don’t know about. Sylvester Stallone plays one of these characters. My friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent role in the movie as well, and it sort of works in tandem with Sly’s character.

Hardcore Marvel nerds, speculate away — but given Gunn’s smart track record with adapting comic-book characters, it’s doubtful that you’ll guess these roles too quickly, if at all.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also features MCU newcomers Kurt Russell (as Ego the Living Planet, aka Star Lord’s dad), Pom Klementieff (as Mantis) and Elizabeth Debicki (as the villain Ayesha), and hits theaters on May 5.
