Longtime comics scribe John Ostrander needs your help. After a continued battle with Glaucoma, the "Batman," "X-Men," and "Justice League" writer needs an expensive operation to ensure the integrity of his eyesight.

To help, Gail Simone and friends are leading the charge for donations:

"As you may already know, industry legend John Ostrander is battling a very serious eye condition that has endangered his sight," wrote Simone in an e-mail, "He has insurance, but it doesn't begin to cover all the surgery he's had and related expenses. His friends Mike Gold, Adriane Nash, and Wizard Entertainment have announced an auction at the Chicago Comicon, on Saturday, August 8. Further details of the auction, and a link to donate cash via PayPal, are at comix4sight.com."

Simone has already collected pieces by the Kuberts (the pictured Batman vs. Hawkman), Paul Chadwick, with additional donations from Kevin Smith, David Lloyd, Joe Quesada, Jim Lee, Phil Hester, Tim Truman, Patton Oswalt and many others and will work to continue collecting art and monetary donations at this week's San Diego Comic-Con.

"John is a very important talent to this industry that he loves so much, and he's created some of the best adventure comics (and is still doing so) ever. If he loses this battle, he could lose his eyesight. Please help by donating however you can," said Simone.
