Jessica Jones, star of her own Netflix TV series and one of the most groundbreaking female Marvel characters of all time, is back in her own title after more than a decade! Not only that, but Jessica Jones #1 reunites her original Alias creative team of writer Brian Michael Bendis, artist Michael Gaydos, colorist Matt Hollingsworth, and cover artist David Mack.

It obviously would have been cool to see a Jessica Jones creative team that includes some women, given that Jessica's stories are often about women's experiences, but as a fan of Alias it's impossible not to get excited at how much this book resembles that one. After all these years of Jessica being primarily a respectable mom and occasional Avenger, it's refreshing to see her covered in grime and in more trouble than she probably deserves.

Will this book appeal to new fans who first encountered Jessica on Netflix and haven't read Alias? That's hard to say. But the preview finds her being released from a supervillain prison with no good explanation for why they're letting her go, and nobody arriving to pick her up, which does sound like the kind of thing that might happen to that version of the character as well.

Jessica Jones #1 is on sale October 12 and features variant covers by Alex Maleev and David Aja.
