‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Set Photo Reveals the Return of Josh Brolin’s Thanos
With the huge successes of both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, Joe and Anthony Russo are back at it once again for Avengers: Infinity War, and today we have our first look at Josh Brolin as the villainous purple Titan Thanos. Well, kinda.
On the Russo Brothers’ official Facebook page today, the directors shared a behind-the-scenes set photo - titled simply “Rehearsal” - of the two of them chatting it up with a motion capture jumpsuit-clad Brolin. Joe Russo is the one sitting down, and Anthony is at the camera on the left.
Thanos has appeared before entirely in CG, and his action has consisted mostly of diabolically sitting in giant chairs, but it looks like Infinity War will see the Titan up on his feet. The set is pretty minimal, and we can probably expect a lot of Thanos’ scenes to be in completely CGI backgrounds, like his short scenes in The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Brolin was appropriately menacing in Guardians, and he’s sure to bring that intimidating presence back for Infinity War.
After the events of Civil War, which effectively split the Avengers in half, it’ll take a formidable force to bring the band back together, and Thanos is the perfect guy for the job. We can’t wait to see the big guy in action.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
