PlayStation Sets a ‘Powers’ Killer on the Loose in Final Season 2 Trailer
Whether or not the first season of PlayStation’s comic-adapted Powers did justice to its Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming origins, it looks as if Season 2 heavily intends to right the ship with an increased scale, and one of the book’s most famous stories. See for yourself in the final trailer for our May premiere, along with word of another Talking Dead-style aftershow to follow.
In addition to the final trailer above, PlayStation and Machinima will team for the aptly-named After Powers, a Chloe Dykstra-hosted weekly talk show discussing the latest episode with creators and stars of the show. Episodes of the talk show series will be made available on Machinima’s YouTube Channel as early as May 31, with creator Brian Michael Bendis likely to appear.
The second season of Powers will make the first three episodes available on May 31, free to PlayStation Plus members, beginning 12:01 P.M. PT. Subsequent episodes will debut each week, while the Season 2 synopsis reads:
Powers, an edgy dramatic series inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.”
Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?
The new season will delve into the storyline made famous by the first comic “Who Killed Retro Girl?” as the Powers Division investigates the shocking murder of the world famous superhero (played by Michelle Forbes) and the mysteries that her death uncovers.
In addition to casting Michael Madsen’s “Super Shock” and Tricia Helfer’s Agent Lange, Falling Skies alum Remi Aubuchon took up showrunning duties for the new season fulltime, while Ben Edlund (Supernatural, Angel, Firefly and creator of The Tick) joined the writing staff.
