New ‘Regular Show’ Graphic Novel ‘Hydration’ Examines The Wonder Of The Mystery Pool In Full Color
As the band Solid Bold so indelibly noted in their song "Summertime Loving, Loving In The Summer (Time)," "It's Summertime and you know what that means / Gonna head down to the beach, gonna do some beachy things."
One of those beachy things could be plopping down on the sand and reading a graphic novel about Regular Show...uh, regulars Mordecai and Rigby trying to figure out how and why a mysterious pool appeared in their park in the midst of a blistering heat wave. That's the premise of the new Boom! Studios graphic novel by Ed, Edd and Eddy writer Rachel Connor and artist Tessa Stone (Bravest Warriors). The beautiful cover above -- which you're seeing for the first time here on CA -- is by Allison Strejlau, artist on the monthly Regular Show series.
This isn't the first time Boom! has released an OGN based on a Cartoon Network property -- there are a few Adventure Time graphic novels -- but it does mark the first time one has been released in full color. Boom promises "a long-form story that will be like watching one of their TV episodes," and offers up this synopsis:
The summer is turning into a roast-fest and Mordecai and Rigby are desperate to find a way to cool down. But when a mystery pool suddenly appears and offers a chance to beat the heat, it’s only a matter of time before these two best bros find themselves in totally water-logged trouble.
Hydration will be available in September, so you'll have a tiny little bit of summer left to pop in your favorite Solid Bold tape, grab a copy and enjoy some Summertime Loving.
