Five years ago, for Sonic the Hedgehog's 20th anniversary, Archie published a storyline that was appropriately called "Genesis." Seems like a slam dunk, but the problem --- as I've recently discovered for myself --- was that it happened in the middle of a completely different story, and felt like a weird derailment of the ongoing saga.

Now, though, it's five years later, and that means that it's time for Sonic's 25th anniversary, which gives the good people over at Archie Comics plenty of time for a do-over. Thus: "Genesis of a Hero," a four-part saga with a retro style that hearkens back to the events of the Sega Genesis games --- which are not under any circumstances to be confused with the similarly retro-styled Mega Drive series. Look, it's a little complicated, but you can check out a preview below and get a look at the action yourself!
