Say what you will about Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics and their truly shocking level of complex continuity --- and I am, in fact, saying what I will about that --- but you have to admit that they're pretty good about providing content for new readers. Take, for instance, last summer's Mega Drive one-shot, which celebrated Sonic's 25th anniversary with a classic style adventure that serves as a showcase for the book and its creative teams without getting all caught up in debating the rights of sentient AIs and the origins of the planet Mobius.
