Netflix’s animation partnership with DreamWorks has yielded significant returns thus far; not just for Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters, but also Voltron: Legendary Defender. That formation is getting even stronger, as reports indicate Season 3 is a go for fall 2017, with potentially many more episodes to come.

It may not have the fanfare of its predecessor, but Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender is nonetheless back for Season 2 this very Friday, and looking pretty divided, at that. Our first clips from the new season sees the disparate team members exploring some strange new territory, including underwater worlds, and … a giant pile of garbage. Onward!

Netflix borrowed a few pages from The Legend of Korra to make Voltron: Legendary Defender an impressive success for the streaming network, and Season 2 looks to be building on that well. There’s new heroes, new villains and new worlds in the first official trailer for Season 2, ahead of a January premiere.

Let’s face it, Netflix’s already-forgiving standards and the required turnaround of animation already gave Voltron: Legendary Defender a strong shot at returning the five lions for Season 2, but there’s better news yet. Season 2 will air as early as later this year, so get ready to form up once again!
