On this day in 1940, DC Comics published Batman #1, which, as well as being the first appearance of The Joker, also featured the first appearance of the character we would come to know as Catwoman. Selina Kyle has been one of the most versatile characters in not only Batman’s canon, but the whole DC Universe. She’s been a hero, a villain, an ally, a lover, and for over twenty years she has been a leading lady in her own right.
Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service is shaping up to be one of our most anticipated films of 2017: The director has begun assembling a pretty cool cast, with Julianne Moore as Kingsman 2's main villain opposite returning star Taron Egerton. While we wait to find out if (and how) Colin Firth will return, the film is looking to secure another great addition, with Halle Berry in talks to play a key role.
Goddess. Windrider. Queen. Leader. Storm has worn multiple hats during her existence; roles that have aided in her evolution as one of comics’ most significant and abiding heroes. Yet although Storm’s pop cultural significance is great, her characterization has seen glaring inconsistencies from comic book to screen. Fans of the '90s cartoons remember a majestic leader whose long winded monologues became part of her appeal, but fans of the films were subjected to an unimposing and rather useless version of the character.
But what was lost in translation? What is it about Storm that the movies' writers and producers failed to understand?
Earlier today, we reported the rumor that not only has Captain Marvel been cast, but she’ll be making her first appearance in the already superhero-heavy Avengers: Age of Ultron. Having major superheroes make cameos or debut in other films from their respective studios has become the norm, so it’s hardly surprising to hear that X-Men: Apocalypse — which is said to primarily focus on the First Class cast — will feature a few cameos from other X-Men…including one pretty exciting mutant in particular.

Chris Sims: Welcome back to our in-depth review of X-Men 3: The Last Stand, everyone! When we last left off on the unquestionable turkey of the franchise, Jean Grey had gone evil, as evidenced by the fact that she was inexplicably dressed for clubbing in the mid-90s...
