‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Goes Retro in Delightful Recruitment Ad
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Goes Retro in Delightful Recruitment Ad
Early reviews of X-Men: Apocalypse have unfortunately skewed a bit negative, but someone in Fox’s marketing department deserves a raise for some of these retro-style promos. Following that great In Search Of… spoof featuring George Takei, the studio has released this fake recruitment ad to entice gifted youngsters to enroll in Charles Xavier’s “totally rad” school for mutants.
Mall Babe: The Best Jubilee Fan Art Ever
Mall Babe: The Best Jubilee Fan Art Ever
Does a mall babe eat chili fries? We may never know the answer to that question, or to the larger question that it implies (which is "what does that mean?"), but one thing we can agree on is that Jubilee is one of the most important X-Men of the last thirty years. X-Men: Apocalypse promises her biggest movie role yet (she's only been a cameo in the past), so this is the perfect time to celebrate Jubilee with a gallery of fan art. From Kitty to Kamala: The Heroes Who Made Ms. Marvel
From Kitty to Kamala: The Heroes Who Made Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan is a superstar now. Introduced only a year ago by Marvel, she’s become a bona fide figurehead for the publisher. A young Muslim girl in America who develops powers and uses them to try and help people, her story has caught on with a mainstream audience and turned the Ms Marvel series into a real, actual hit, especially among the growing digital readership. What’s fascinating about the character, though, is how clearly she’s embedded into the tradition of superhero comics, and how you can draw a direct line from her back through Marvel’s history, to some of the company's most popular female superheroes. Kamala broke through at just the right moment in time, in just the right way, for the readership to embrace her, but she owes a debt to several characters that came before her.

The X-Men Episode Guide 5x10: The Fifth Horseman
The early ’90s were spoiled for choice when it came to comic book adaptations. Not only was Batman: The Animated Series on the air, but X-Men led Marvel’s push to get on the small screen, diving right into the often convoluted continuity of everyone’s favorite mutants, luring in a generation of fans, and paving the way for cartoons to follow. That’s why we’ve set out to review every single episode of the ’90s X-Men animated series. This week, it's the return of Apocalypse and Fabian Cortez, so if you want to stop reading now, I'll understand.
