It took a couple of trailers before we were introduced to Krang, the fan-favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain who will make his big screen debut in Out of the Shadows. And while we’ve gotten a sneak peek at the squishy pink baddie, we haven’t heard him speak just yet. For those curious about what Krang will sound like in the upcoming sequel, look no further than former SNL star Fred Armisen.

Armisen’s casting was announced during a WonderCon panel for TMNT: Out of the Shadows (via Heroic Hollywood), following yesterday’s reveal of a new trailer for the sequel. New footage was scarce in the trailer, but we did get another brief look at Krang’s design, which was overseen by producer Michael Bay — who had some hilarious direction for Industrial Light & Magic, as recalled in this Rolling Stone profile back in January:

He could have some tentacles. I just don’t want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus.

Armisen is a great character actor and voice talent, and you definitely don’t want to waste him on something that looks like a “stupid octopus.” In addition to voicing Krang in TMNT: Out of the Shadows, Armisen is lending his voice to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s animated Sausage Party. The actor also co-created and stars opposite Carrie Brownstein on Portlandia, which is currently in its sixth season on IFC.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows stars Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher and Johnny Knoxville as the titular heroes, with Megan Fox, Will Arnett and William Fichtner reprising their roles from the first outing, and Arrow’s Stephen Amell making his debut as Casey Jones. The film also stars Brian Tee as Shredder, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop and WWE’s Sheamus as Rocksteady, and hits theaters on June 3.
