If you stockpiled (or skipped) the first season of Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, it may be a decent time to catch up on the show's first 26 episodes - especially if you're a Netflix Instant subscriber. On Monday, January 21 at 7 p.m., the series will kick off its second season with a one-hour premiere before returning to its regular Sunday time slot at 11 a.m. Picking up pretty much where season one left off, Spidey will confront some new threats foreshadowed in the previous season including the Lizard and Electro. The villains won't be alone, however, as the Sinister Six will team up for the first time to take down S.H.I.E.L.D.'s webslinging agent-in-training.Though The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes has been canceled and the upcoming Avengers Assemble animated series is still in the offing, the team will turn up in full force on the second season of USM, with appearances by Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk and Hawkeye planned. In other words, for as many villains as Spidey will have on his plate, he'll be dealing with his share of heroes too. Perhaps he'll also interact with a female Avenger or two?

Rounding out the new season will be upgraded Disney XD web content (including a new game), plus televised "Marvel Comics Close-Up" interstitials hosted by Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada and Dylan Riley Snyder... who those born after 1995 will likely be much more familiar with than those of us who don't tune into many other Disney XD shows.
