Courtesy of 20th Century Fox, ComicsAlliance and our friends at Moviefone bring you an exclusive clip from X-Men: First Class, the new film based on the legendary Marvel Comics superheroes. In this exclusive video, we see a characteristically pro-mutant Magneto encouraging a young Mystique to be herself, but in a rather sophisticated context. Needless to say, the character of Erik Lehnsherr, played by Michael Fassbender, is perfectly expressed in the scene.

SPOILER WARNINGS IN FULL EFFECT.Opening today in cinemas everywhere, X-Men: First Class' early promo materials were met with some skepticism from comics fans and mainstream movie-goers alike, but increasingly positive word-of-mouth and ever more revealing previews (not to mention inspiring contributions from Marvel fans) and production artwork have made X-Men: First Class something that will very likely be a big hit with audiences over the weekend.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt, X-Men: First Class is in cinemas now.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.
