On sale now is the 900th issue of Action Comics, the second-longest running DC Comics title after Detective Comics. And of course, Action Comics #900 concludes the thrilling "The Black Ring" storyline by Paul Cornell and Pete Woods, spotlighting Lex Luthor, and begins the series' next big Superman epic.
Check out a preview below.Launched in April of 1938, Action Comics is best known for introducing the world to Superman, who continues to anchor the title to this day -- even when he's not in it. Indeed, the Man of Steel has been away on a separate adventure, leaving Action Comics in the hands of villain Lex Luthor, around whom Paul Cornell and Pete Woods have crafted the highly acclaimed "The Black Ring" storyline, part one of which is available in a handsome hardcover volume.
Put simply, the story follows Luthor on his relentless quest for power throughout the DC Universe, and includes an encounter with Death herself. The storyline concludes in Action #900, which sees Superman return for a major showdown with Lex and to set up the next big summer storyline to unfold in the pages of the venerable series.
