Things Aren’t Looking Great for Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’ or ‘Most Wanted’
The moment Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell signed for a new ABC pilot, fans of Peggy’s post-Cap adventures began to worry, even as Marvel and ABC assured she could juggle both series. Ahead of pilot pickups, however, it’s starting to look like Agent Carter may be no more, while fellow Agents series Most Wanted has again lost some of its luster.
Just weeks before the official announcement of pilot pickups and cancellations from the major networks, both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety report an increasing likelihood of Atwell’s legal pilot Conviction going to series, even as the former notes that the star could still theoretically handle both jobs. Either way, Agent Carter is considered “highly unlikely” to continue.
A bit more optimistic are the pickup chances for Marvel’s Most Wanted, an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff of sorts with Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood reprising their roles as Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Lance Hunter, following the duo’s exit this season. Most Wanted was proposed, then shelved for development in Agents Season 2, and where Variety claims the Marvel drama has a “very good chance of going to series,” THR notes “Most Wanted has been cooling and some say it’s not considered the lock it once was.”
Starring Palicki, Blood, Delroy Lindo and Oded Fehr, So reads the Most Wanted synopsis:
[Marvel's Most Wanted] centers on Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. These two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. EP Jeffrey Bell and series writer Paul Zbyszewski will spearhead the project, both serving as showrunners and executive producers.
We’ll hear more in the next few weeks, but might Agent Carter officially end with Season 2? Would Most Wanted fill the same 8-episode spot in between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4?
