Where AMC’s Preacher adaptation had reportedly eyed Howard Stark, er … Dominic Cooper as its titular lead, A Marvel-ous new twist has arisen. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ruth Negga has transformed into the first official member of the Preacher cast, playing the role of the iconic Tulip.

Per Deadline, Negga’s Tulip is colorfully described as “a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who’s not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation.”

The character is also ex-girlfriend to titular Preacher Jesse, while Negga was in real life an item with Dominic Cooper, who for the moment has only been informally eyed as male lead. For those unfamiliar with the 1990s comic series from Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, AMC’s official description of Preacher reads:

Preacher is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

The original Preacher had itself been optioned for various adaptations many times over the years, while AMC’s incarnation will shoot this summer for a potential 2016 airdate. Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will serve as executive producer and showrunner for the new series, while fellow producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will direct the pilot episode, having written the script with Catlin.

Whether Preacher affects Negga’s guest capacity on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. remains to be seen, but who else should join AMC’s adaptation of the revered comic series?
