Things are speeding along faster than teens with grappling hook thigh pouches for Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan. Since its serialized manga debut in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine in Japan in 2009, the humans vs. giants series has been adapted into an increasingly popular anime series and received all of the requisite merchandise. Kodansha USA has even gone from printing and digitally releasing collected volumes of the English version of the manga gradually to going monthly starting this month until they're caught up with Japan. Given the series' growing global popularity it isn't a surprise that a Nintendo 3DS game by Spike Chunsoft has been announced, but news of a manga spinoff already? Fans may just make like Titans and climb the walls over that news.

The news came this week in an insert in Japan's version of Attack on Titan vol. 11. Apparently the AoTverse is going to branch into another series in Shōnen Sirius on August 26's October issue. No word on if the spinoff will be ongoing or simply supplemental material, but it seems more will be more in this instance.

Details are similarly vague regarding Spike Chunsoft's 3DS AoT title, but it's meant to be released by the end of 2013 and more details are slated to roll out by the end of the month.
