Everybody Fights Everybody in ‘Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega’ [Preview]
Lots of Marvel characters are fighting lots of other Marvel characters (almost like there's a Civil War coming) in Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega #1, the finale to the Pleasant Hill story. Steve Rogers is young again, and leading a makeshift group of Avengers (I say "makeshift" mostly because it includes Cable) against a veritable army of supervillains led by Baron Zemo. There's reality-warping technology at stake, and we all know the Marvel Universe's reality can't warp much further without breaking.
Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega #1 is written by Nick Spencer, with art by Daniel Acuña, and goes on sale April 27.
The press release promises that "seeds sown here will set the stage for major things to come in the Marvel Universe," which I'm going to go ahead and guess is Civil War II. Along the way, we get gorgeous Acuña art, and some great variant covers by Mike Deodato, Jim Steranko (!) and Art Adams. Acuña's cover is beautiful too, although it features Sam Wilson getting beaten up by the Brothers Grimm, which makes me feel bad for the guy who's about to bumped down in the Captain America pecking order.
