Batman Investigates the City’s Secret History in ‘Gates of Gotham’ [Preview]
On sale now is the first issue if Batman: Gates of Gotham, a new five-part miniseries written by Scott Snyder & Kyle Higgins with artwork by Trevor McCarthy. Hotly anticipated by fans of Snyder's impressive work on Detective Comics, Higgins' excellent origin story for the Nightrunner, the Batman of Paris, and McCarthy's superlative artwork throughout his career, Gates of Gotham finds members of Grant Morrison's Batman Incorporated teaming up to solve a mystery that's as old as Gotham City itself.
The inciting action of Gates of Gotham will be a little familiar to regular readers of Batman Incorporated. Issue #6 of that Grant Morrison series featured a scene in which Cassandra Cain, a former Batgirl, tracks the movement of some powerful explosives in Hong Kong. That substance, Semtex, makes its way to Batman's home base in Gates of Gotham #1, and is used to destroy bridges with ties to some of the city's most prominent families. It falls to Dick Grayson to assemble a team of heroes including Red Robin, Owlman and I-Ching to solve the mystery behind these actions by investigating different eras from the city's rich history.
Very promisingly the Batman story readers have been waiting for since the conclusion of Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, DC's Batman: Gates of Gotham is on sale now in comics shops everywhere and can be purchased online from Things From Another World.
