Brian Austin Green to Play Metallo on “Smallville”

When I first heard that Brian Austin Green had been cast in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," I cannot say I was excited. But then, I really only knew him as the nerdy kid who did idiotic 90s dances on the original "Beverly Hills 90210."

It turns out he's now older, cooler, hotter, and a much better actor, and by the time he was ruthlessly gunned down in the last season on "Terminator," I was truly sorry to see him go.

The good news, at least for the people who have managed to hang on all the way to season 9 of "Smallville," is that Green will soon appear on the Superman series as the DC Comics villain Metallo.

I'm not sure how faithful the show is planning to be, but in the original comics, Metallo was -- ironically -- a cyborg.
